By George Orwell
Animal Farm is a story of revolution, community, war, oppression, death and corruption. The Story follows a group of animals on Manor farm. After some mishaps from the owner of the fame, the animals revolt. At the beginning, the animals are doing good. But slowly the Leaders(the pigs) start to implement strict food laws and bounties on war heros. Despite the harsh life the animals lead, they persevere through the bitter cold winters and the scorching summers, all in the name of Comrade Napoleon.
I thought that Animal Farm Showed the effects of corrupt government and the indoctrination that revolutionary ideals can cause. I found the book's ideas original and interesting. Since the book was so short it was easy to read. The story began soon into the book which made it so there wasn’t a monotonous part in the part which had nothing to progress the story. After I read this book, I went home, recommended it to my mother, then played hoi4 because the book made me want to play a strategy game for whatever reason.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in history, politics, or as stated above, strategy enjoyers. Simply for its ties to historical figures, somewhat real world events and relations to modern politics, even though it was made well before some political figures were on the scene.
This book is definitely up there in the books I’ve read(not that I’ve read a lot). I would give this book a solid 8.5 out of 10. The reason I didn’t make it better was that in some spots I lost the plot and didn’t fully know what was going on. But in all I found to it was an interesting book with unique views to the problems that were going on in that day and age.
