Despite our academy's student-led focus, we still rely on our teachers and staff to help give direction, assist, and motivate students to achieve their full potential in their ideas and their impact on the world. Past just their job descriptions, our teachers work to give students the best experience possible throughout their time in high school.
Mr. Lacey is the lead for the Engineering Academy, as well as a math teacher. He is responsible for the management and moderation of all aspects of the academy, including budgeting and fundraising. He keeps the academy running through the coordination of each individual component and their interactions with each other. Through directing the captains, Mr. Lacey encourages students to take responsibility and pride in their work, moving towards a brighter future for the individual, the academy, and the community.
Mrs. Heath is the English teacher for the academy. As a 9th grade teacher, she acts as an introduction to high school, creating an inviting space for students to discover their passions. She is the advisor of the Women in STEAM and Girls Lego leadership teams.
"I am Ms. Findsen, this is my first year with the Engineering academy. I teach Math 1 Engineering and Math 3 Honors Engineering. This year I am helping with the fundraising and Esri teams."
Mrs. Orloski is the teacher for various math classes within the academy.
Mr. Jimenez teaches the Introduction to Engineering and Design Class, the first class within the Engineering Academy. The class teaches the basics of the design and iteration process, different forms of production, and 3D modeling. He also coaches the baseball team at the school.
Mr. Dalzell is the teacher for the Principles of Engineering class, the 2nd engineering class in the Engineering Academy. The Principles of Engineering class is an overview of various types of engineering. A few that are represented by larger units are electrical, computer programming, mechanical, civil, and fluids. There are smaller units that encompass fields like aerospace and nuclear engineering. Mr. Dalzell also teaches the offered physics classes, along with advising two clubs, T-Bird Tech and Battle Bots.
Mr. Orloski is the teacher responsible for the computer science pathway. He teaches both AP Computer Science Principles as well as AP Computer Science A, as well as the various 3D modeling classes available at the school. In addition, Mr. Orloski coaches the E-Sports team.
Mr. Opsahl is the teacher involved in the civil and architectural pathway within the academy. He teaches Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Engineering Design and Development.
