Room 148 - Drop In Centre

The student Support Drop In Centre is located in Room 148 and is available for all students who access Special Education services. The drop in provides an alternative quiet work space where students can complete assignments, tests and quizzes or access extra time if their accommodations permit. Students are encouraged to advocate for themselves when using the Drop In Centre. Students should communicate with their classroom teacher, as well as their Core Resource Teacher that they wish to access the Drop In Centre.

Student's who are accessing the the Drop In Centre to work on homework or in-class work, should remain in their classroom until the teacher has completed the lesson. Students must communicate with their teacher that they would like to access the Drop-In Centre and establish a mutually agreeable time to do so.

A member of the Special Education Department is available in the Drop In Centre during each period of the day. This teacher will provide students with support, or help with the student advocacy process in order to provide students with the support they need.

From time to time, Special Education teachers may request to meet with the students they support on their rosters. Meetings take place in the Drop-In Centre and these meetings may range from quick academic check ups, to direct instruction.
