G Suite (Formally GAFE)

Google has rebranded Google Apps for Education as “G Suite for Education”. G Suite for Education is the same set of apps that students are familiar with—Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Hangouts, and more— but designed with new intelligent features that make work easier.

Each student at YCDSB has access to a G Suite for Education account. This account provides students access to Google Docs, Sheets, Sites, Forms, Slides, GMail, and a multitude of other apps including the ever popular Google Classroom Site. It is imperative that students access this resource and use it to enhance their educational experience here at YCDSB.

Students who access Special Education support are encouraged to use Google Read and Write. Read and Write is an Extension in the Google Chrome browser that makes G Suite For Education more accessible, with support for Google docs, web, pdfs, and epubs in google drive. It is a text-to-speech, and speech-to-text extension to boost reading and writing confidence to students with learning difficulties, dyslexia or ELL/ESL.
