Counselling Resources

Family Services York Region - provision of counselling for children, youth, women, men and their families and/or will help you find the appropriate resource. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale according to the individual’s income and ability to pay. A portion of the fee may be covered by subsidy or insurance. No one is turned away because of inability to pay.

Addiction Services York Region - a non-profit agency that supports change in the lives of individuals, their families and communities related to substance use and gambling.

Bereaved Families of York Region - provides volunteer bereavement support services to families and individuals grieving the death of a family member.

Evergreen Hospice of Markham-Stouffville - provides supportive care to people of all ages in Markham and Whitchurch-Stouffville who are dealing with a life-threatening illness, death and bereavement care for family and friends.

LGBTYouth Support - The York Region Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Youth Group meets every 1st and 3rd Monday night of each month from 7 to 9 pm. Whatever you may be: gay, lesbian, bisexual, proud, out, in, confused...all are welcome!

PFLAG - Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays support group.

York Region Children's Aid Society - provides services for the protection of children

Kids Help Phone - provides a person to speak to when in need.

310-COPE - provides for immediate crisis support 24 hours a day.

Women's Support Network York - support of individuals who have been affected by sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, sexual harassment, date rape and any form of violence. The Crisis Line operates 24-hours/per day every day of the year.

Kinark Child & Family Services - a mental health organization that provides help to youth, families, & communities.

Mental Health Helpline - call, email or web chat 24/7; free and confidential.

Markham-Stouffville Hospital - Child & Family Services, and Crisis Response

Ontario Shores - Centre for Mental Health Sciences is a public teaching hospital providing a range of specialized assessment and treatment services to those living with cental illness.

Rose of Sharon - support for young mothers.

Sexuality&U - provides accurate, credible and up-to-date information and education on sexual health. An initiative of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.

Southlake Child & Adolescent Mental Health - Child & Family Clinic, Child & Adolescent In-Patient Unit, Day Hospital Program, Disruptive Behaviours Program, and Eating Disorder Program.

Teen Mental Health - information on teen mental health developed in a variety of formats and has been contextualized for educators, health providers, parents and youth.

Telehealth Ontario - free access to a registered nurse 24 hours a day.

York Centre - provides a range of mental health services for children, youth and families who live in the Region of York.
