Model UN:

This month St Theresa’s Model United Nations chapter attended Don Mills Collegiate Model United Nations conference. The Model UN students have been meeting almost every week and worked extremely hard to ensure they represented our school and their countries well at conferences throughout the year. At conferences and practices, members represent different countries in the UN and discuss issues that pertain to the well being of the global community such as Sustainable Development, War, Human trafficking, Protection of Journalists, The Syrian Refugee crisis and Social Justice issues. Debates often become so passionate that a passer by might claim they are actually seeing the UN at work, not high school students aiming to simulate it. To many members such conferences are a taste of the life they may one day have. To others, MUN is an amazing opportunity to help them develop their public speaking and negotiation skills. Whatever the reasons are for why students may join, they are sure to learn and grow from it. After a fun filled day of debate and diplomacy at DMICIMUN, the chapter was able to win 5 awards. A big congratulations goes out to Amber Dhall (grade 9) who won her very first award as best position paper in Human Rights, Pe’er Krut (grade 11) who won best delegate in Human Rights, Sahej Saini (grade 9) who won her very first award as outstanding Delegate In Security Council, Ismail Abdelmalek (grade 11) who won his first award as outstanding Delegate in World War III, and Stanley Tang (grade 11 ) who captured most diplomatic in World War III. We are so proud of you! A big thank you goes out to our amazing teacher advisors, Mr. Saggese and Ms. Delucia, without whom none of this would be possible.

Thank you so much for helping our dreams come true!
