Grade 9 Course Selection - Choosing French
Choosing Between Core French (FSF1D1) and Open French (FSF1O1)
1. Core French (FSF1D1) is intended for students who have completed the 600 required hours of Core French instruction in elementary school. This course is considered the destreamed French.
Students in our AP-Prep program should enroll in FSF1D1
2. Open French (FSF1O1) is intended for students who have little to no knowledge of, or previous experience with French, and have NOT accumulated the required 600 hours of Core French instruction in elementary school including:
English Language Learners (ESL) who are interested in learning French
Students who experience significant difficulty with learning, including those previously exempt from French due to their learning needs.
*ATTENTION:
English Language Learners (ESL) new to Canada within the last 3 years, may receive a French substitution.
ALL FRENCH IMMERSION STUDENTS SHOULD ENROLL IN FSF2D1 (Gr 10), NOT FSF1D1.
