A death in a Secondary school community has the potential to impact a significant number of people since students interact in a variety of classes and may be involved in teams, clubs and councils. High School staff will need to pay close attention to their students to determine who may need support. Not all students will respond the same way. Particular attention should be paid to the classes that have been impacted by the loss directly or those who may have experienced a significant loss recently. Students that are not directly affected may wish to return to routine immediately. Taking the time to begin class in prayer and to ask God to be with those who mourn is one way we can demonstrate how our faith supports us in times of loss.
