Course: AWI-3M1 Fashion Design

Prerequisite: Grade 9 or 10 Visual Arts


The Fashion Design Course introduces students to the initial level of the ever- changing world of Fashion. Through classroom theory/research, lecture, projects, field trips and individual/teamwork, students are supported to acquire the understanding, specific knowledge, and creative problem-solving skills, thus beginning to prepare them for a future career in the various sectors of the growing fashion industry. Emphasis is placed upon the enhancement of critical thinking skills, the analysis of different multicultural styles, trends and designers; as well as in the acquisition of Illustration, basic Pattern making and Sewing skills. As part of the curriculum, students will participate in one field trip and prepare garments and fashion accessories to model during the Annual School Fashion Show.
