OUR PROGRAM:

We offer 2 courses:

VISUAL DESIGN GRADE 11 - Prerequisite: Grade 9 or 10 Visual Arts

VISUAL DESIGN GRADE 12 - Prerequisite: Visual Design Grade 11

Both courses offer a rounded theoretical and practical preparation for post-secondary related programs in College or University adding valuable pieces to the Student Arts Portfolio.

AWD 3M1 VISUAL DESIGN Grade 11:

This course enables students to further develop their knowledge and skills in visual arts applied to Design. Students will explore a wide range of Visual Design through theoretical and studio work that will include construction, drawings, painting, sculpting, and printmaking, as well as the creation of collage, multimedia works, and works using emerging technologies. Students will apply the creative art process as well as the critical analysis process when evaluating their own work and the work of others.

Students will learn about the nature and evolution of Visual Design in four different areas: Fashion, Graphic, Architectural and Industrial design. Students will create two- and three-dimensional increasingly complex and effective visual designs that integrate the fundamental components of design known as elements and principles of design, as well as the specific principles for Fashion, Graphic, Industrial, Architectural design and related graphics. An Individual Design Portfolio is a required component of this course. Design Educational trip/s are part of this program.
