The Framed Pendant
I took this photo when I was sick. I saw how the light was framed by the window and was really curious about how it would turn out in a photo. The pendant light is hainging above a stiarcase so it was a little tricky getting a good angle. I had to stand on a stepstool on the landing before the stairs. I think this photo could be better with the centering of the pendant in the frame, but I love the contrast you see in this photo. I also love the fact that the thing that produces light has the darkest components in the photo.

The Tree Behind the Glass
This was taken when I was sick at home. I realised how closed off I felt in the house. I hadn't been outside in a couple days because I was sick. I felt like this photo really captured the 'so close yet so far' feeling that being stuck in your house makes you feel. I love how the darkness of the frame is contrasted by the bright outdoors. I think that that brightness symbolizes my longing to leave the confines of my house and breathe in fresh air.

The Contrast of Shades
I love this photo. The sky creates the perfect backdrop. The sky is bright enough to provide contrast but it has its own moment with the texture of the clouds. The flower/plant in the glass jar is dark but you can still clearly see the details of the leaves. I also love the way the glass almost blends in with the sky, but you can still clearly make out the edges. I think the darkness of the window frame/sill perfectly adds the balance of light v. dark that the photo needed. If it was a thinner frame I don't think it would provide quite the contrast that was needed for the photo.
