Pre-Instructional Self Portrait
Final Self Portrait
During this assignment, I learned about many things: the drawing process, using light and dark to create depth, and capturing realism with lines and shading. On my pre-instructional drawing, it felt rushed, and the proportions and spacing were off. I used lights and darks to create shadow where I thought it should be, not where it actually was. In addition, I rushed the hair, and due to that, it looks unrealistic dosent have much thought. On my final, I took great care in using my lights and darks to create features like my noes with depth and perspective. For example, I made a bigger shadow on the left side of my nose to create a three-dimensional effect. I also used a white jelly pen to add a shadow on my eye to make the drawing come to life. Lastly, I put much more effort into the eyebrows and eyelashes to depict the way hair grows. In conclusion, my big takeaways are using light and dark to create depth, shadows to make features look three-dimensional, and adding details to make my portarit come to life.
