Purpose:
To look closely at half of a portrait and complete the portrait by drawing similar features.
To practice drawing facial features: eyes, nose, and mouth
Reflection
I feel that my shading around her face and eyes captures the depth of her face. Through this assignment, I learned to use light and dark to make facial features more pronounced. The nose was a struggle for me, but it helped me learn to use shadow to make the nose look three-dimensional. I am also proud of my detail around the eye, and capturing the shadow on her eyelid.
I could have spent more time shading the neck and working on the hair. The hair looks streaky right now, and I believe I could make it look more dimensional by using high contrast between light and dark streaks and focusing on hair clumps.
