Reflecting on my goals for the semester
When looking back at my semester goals I talked a lot about how I wanted to learn specific techniques to enhance my drawing skills. I think that I achieved this goal because I learned a lot of different things throughout this semester but I definitely think that there still is a lot for me to learn. I think that this showed a lot in my watercolor landscape because I didn't do many landscapes before especially with watercolor so it was a new skill that I think I got the hang of for the most part. I learned a lot about different techniques including how I should my paintbrush and different brush strokes to get the texture I wanted. This shines through into my final landscape because of how well it turned out. Another goal of mine was to get better at drawing faces, I think that I accomplished this goal a lot because I learned about portions and how to pay close attention to detail. The things I learned about drawing faces really helped me to better understand the structure of them and how to show definition.

The assignment that I am most proud of
The assignment that I am most proud of is my final un-sung hero painting. I think that I spend a lot of time on this painting and it really showed in my end result. I wanted to create something that we haven't worked on this semester so I used a lot of symbolism to show my un-sung heroes' life. Everything in my painting is there for a reason and has a purpose to represent her life. I think this helped a lot to make the painting a lot more complex and show her life in a new way. I also used a lot of different colors and learned how to blend with acrylic paint. I think that this really helped with my final piece and is a skill that I can take with me to paint new things.

Goals for Semester
Art is made for many different reasons but some reasons that make me want to art is nature and my emotions. Nature is all around us and it inspires me through the vibrant colors and unique patterns. Nature is full of hundreds of animals, insects, and plants all moving in different directions. Nature makes me feel happy and relaxed and just enjoy being outside in the fresh air. I think it would be so cool to capture this when making art. Although nature inspires me to do art, my will to do art is a way for me to be heard and express my emotions about different topics. With all the injustices and concerns in the world right now I feel it would be great to express my feelings. It would be a way for me to relax and separate myself from all the chaos and just express my emotions. Art empowers people and influences people and I think it would be really cool to be a part of that and create something that can impact someone greatly.
I love to doodle and paint with watercolors occasionally but I never really took the time to practice and get better at it. I want to spend more time working and learning techniques so I can become more comfortable with them. I never really learned blending or shadowing deeply and I think that it can enhance my art greatly. Something that I really want to get better at is drawing people and the faces of people. I haven’t really practiced this a lot and I think it would be really cool if I could learn to do this well. I’m really excited to spend time drawing and painting throughout this class and can’t wait to do a variety of projects that will make me a better artist.
