Purpose:
To look closely at half of a portrait and complete the portrait by drawing similar features;
To practice drawing facial features: eyes, nose, and mouth
I really enjoyed completing the half portrait drawing activity. It was really fun for me to create the other half of Emma Stone’s face without looking at it. It was fun to imagine the other side of her face and draw it on the other side. I spent a lot of time working to make it look like the other half and make the end result look like her. I thought it was kinda challenging to get the placement of the eye right and the shape of the eye because you weren’t just drawing the other half of it like the mouth and the nose you had to draw the whole thing from scratch. Once I found the structure of the eye I thought it was easier to get the shading right. Another challenge that I came across was the hair. It was really hard to draw the hair because the background was really dark and her hair almost blended into it. Although these challenges I still think it was really fun to create the other half. I thought that my successes were my nose and my mouth. I thought that I did a really good shading and making the two features symmetrical. This is something that I am really proud of because it is usually a challenge for me to complete the mouth and the nose but this time I ended with a result that I was really proud of.
