Purpose:
To explore a variety of mark-making with the brush tool, along with a variety of techniques to create a digital landscape painting;
To practice using the tablet and stylus with Adobe Photoshop;
To create works of art that use different subjects, themes, symbols, and images;
Demonstrate increasing level of competence in use in the elements of art and principle of design to create a digital landscape (line, color, shape, form, texture; unity, variety, contrast, movement, emphasis, and balance).
The smudge tool and the dodge tool were both helpful in blending the colors and making sure the transitions weren't too abrupt. The dodge tool especially helped make the middle part of the sand appear brighter in comparison to the rest. I used the smudge tool all over the painting, to smooth out the lines. However, the painting was a very time consuming process for me, especially due to me having to research and look up new photoshop techniques. I was stymied by what to do with the water for a while, before figuring out how to invert the sky and blur it, but still think it could have gone better.
