To understand value by creating a good range of values between black & white to help make the objects appear 3D;
To demonstrate quality craftsmanship and good composition skills in a drawing.
Artists Studied: Henry Moore, Giorgio Morandi, Kerry James Marshall, Vincent van Gogh, Winslow Homer, John Whalley
Reflection
As I was making my final still life drawing I was most influenced by Henry Moore. His realistic art pieces showed each and every detail to make sure it was realistic and accurate. When I looked at his art I could tell he put lots of time and effort into it. As I was working on my art I wanted mine to resemble his and show the time and effort I put into mine just like he did with his.
When I first did my pre-instructional drawing I rushed it and put minimal effort into it. Looking back on it I can see the lack of effort and it really shows. Between my final and my first drawing, numerous changes were made in the creation of the drawings. I slowed down and took my time to make a first rough draft so if angles, values, and shapes were off I could change them to be perfect. In my pre-instructional drawing, I took no time to do any of that, many of the angles were off and the value was poor but after comparing the two if I had not drawn them I would not think it was the same artist. After finishing the still life unit I have learned more about drawing shapes, and angles and how to do value.
