To use art in raising awareness of Endangered Species in New England;
To learn about artists who work with animals as their subjects, (specifically, Ami Vitale, Tim Christensen, Joel Sartore, Anne London, and Oaxacan Alebrijes from Mexico).
To become acquainted with basic ceramic vocabulary;
To learn about and find inspiration in the highly patterned art (Alebrijes) from Oaxaca, Mexico;
To form and paint a low relief ceramic tile that contains both imagery of a species of your choice and an indication of the systems around it which promote that species’ survival.

After finish my tile project I believe my systems on my tile display the Atlantic Salmons key needs to survive. On my tile I have put water for their habitat. Also I put rocks for there laying of their eggs, the fish travel up stream to lay eggs and they build rock nests to lay their eggs. Oxygen is also a need to survive for everything including these fish so that's why I included this on my tile. For there food i put dead fish at the bottom to show they eat fish and other small sea life. Lastly I put rays of sunlight because everything needs sunlight so this plays a key role on my tile. I feel my strongest patter in the water because this covers most of my tile and is a essential role to these fish.
On my tile I have done a cool color scheme to display the fishes habitat. Looking back on this color scheme I would definitely keep it the same because I feel it shows this fish in a perfect way. If I was to change anything about my tile I would for sure add more detail into the clay on the fish. I think it would make the fish pop more and give it more of a realistic look. But overall I am happy with how it turned out and i found this project very fun.
When I was picking this fish I thought about how it connected to me. I felt this was the right choice because I am always on the water in the summer and I enjoy fishing with my dad on our boat. Also I have a vague memory when I was younger catching a fish like this one and being very excited about the catch.
