For this semester of Photo 2, I definitely achieved my goals. I used lots of photo editing in my Surrealism Self-Portrait to make the mirror look see-through. I improved my use of lighting and shadows with the Still Life assignment using lamps with objects against a white background. I used lots of color in my Emulation project because of Tony Demin's vibrant photography style. Also, I learned more about film cameras and the dark room from our Portland field trip where we took our film cameras and printed the pictures in the dark room. Overall, each assignment we did in this class helped me reach one of my original goals for this semester.
My goals for the semester are to become a better photographer and learn more about photos and editing. I hope to improve my use of lighting and shadows. Also to pay more attention to color. I think assignments including the darkroom and film cameras would help me reach these goals.
Throughout this semester there have been many assignments that I have enjoyed and felt successful with. One of these assignments was the Antique/Aged photo assignment. With that project, I was able to find objects that worked really well with the theme and took the photos at a good time for lighting. I also felt successful with the dark room prints from Portland. The assignment helped me learn a lot about the dark room and by the end, I felt very successful with my learning and with the prints. Both of these assignments successfully furthered my learning and my interest in photography.
