The class project that I am most proud of is the Pueblo Coil vase that I made. I am most proud of this one because I feel that it shows my progress from the beginning of this class to now. I used to struggle with pinch pots, but the base of the Pueblo Coil Vase is started with a pinch pot and I didn’t have as much trouble with it this time. I also really like the colors and designs I chose. Doing the birds was very informative for me because it taught me the difference between underglaze and overglaze. I also learned a lot from the firing of the rock-like shapes. It showed me different ways that ceramics can be fired. I definitely met my goal of making something I could use by making lots of pinch pots, a box, and a vase.
I think ceramics is similar to drawing and painting in the patterns and colors that can be painted on afterward but I also think that it is different than other art forms because it is 3D and has texture. I will check the landing doc and write down the homework to stay organized this semester. I am inspired by the textures and colors that I see mostly in nature and in the things that I see and do every day. I would like to learn how to make something that I could use in real life, like a bowl or a small cup.
