Purpose: Create a multiple-sided, lidded box / house out of slabs. Combine two ideas from a mind mapping exercise to tie together all parts of the piece.
I combined summer and sun into one piece. For summer, when I think about summer, I think about beaches, so the conclusion was pretty easy beach + house = beach-house. For the sun aspect, I made suns around the walls and carved them into the roof. The roff as a bit modern and I carved it while the walls were pretty simple with the wave carving on the bottom. I think the waves and the suns are pretty eye-catching to the viewer which allows them the look around more to see all of it. The little floaty on the front also adds to the beach aspect as it just adds to dismiss the simplicity of the house.
I used a primary color scheme (red yellow blue) and I think it worked perfectly for mine. If I used any other color scheme I think the summery vibe I was going for would of kinda disappeared. The blue and yellow I mainly used on this piece really made it a lot better and give off the vibe while the bits of red just really added to the piece. Yellow being one of my big colors worked really well, for the walls and the sun contrasting it with the blue waves just makes it feel like summer.
I made sure to always use the scratching tool and wet it so all the pieces would stick together. By constantly scratching and adding water to all pieces, it creates a sticky and tight barrier so nothing breaks or exits the house.
