7th grade
French curriculum
7th grade French is the first half of a two-year sequence. 7th and 8th grade French is the equivalent of high school level I. Students will be assessed throughout the year based on the World Languages Standards. The units listed below will be our focus this year. Our cultural focus is on the French-speaking world.

Units 1-2 ~ How I present myself to the world around me (September-October)
Objectifs: By the end of the unit students will learn to
Greet someone and say goodbye
Understand classroom commands
Exchange names
Introduce someone
Use classroom expressions
Count from 0-59
Ask and tell the date (days and months)
Describe the weather in Maine
Identify Francophone countries
Unit 3 ~ Ma Famille et Moi (My "Family" and Me) (November-February)
Objectifs: By the end of the unit students will learn to
Describe themselves (looks and personality)
Describe members of their family (looks and personality)
Ask about and describe people
Ask for and give opinions
Identify family members
Ask about someone's family
Unit 4 ~ Mes Activités (March-May)
Objectifs: By the end of the unit students will be able to
Talk about things they like and dislike
Talk about how often they do an activity
Talk about activities they like and dislike doing
Agree and disagree with someone’s opinion
Talk about how well they do something
Give their opinion about things and activities
Write about what they do based on the weather
Géoculture: French Speaking Africa (May-June)
Objectifs: By the end of the unit students will
Read (in English) about the colonization and imperialism of Africa by many European countries
Students will research a French Speaking Country in Africa
