To create four equally formed tiles
To demonstrate the effects of layering glaze colors
To develop glazing skills
To contribute to a test tile wall for current and future ceramics students
To show quality craftsmanship, I made sure to carefully press all of my textures and apply my glazes well. Each tile has a different texture, which gives each tile a unique look and gives the 4 together much variety. When glazing my tiles, I made to sure to keep the layers as even as I could while still covering the whole surface.
When applying glaze to the tiles, the original colors didn't all look how they would after they were fired. Because of this, I wasn't sure how the tiles would actually look once they were done. Although each bottle of glaze has an image of what the color looks like, I was still nervous about how they would turn out.
After completing my tiles and finishing the glaze, I have discovered a bunch of different ways to create different looks and combinations of colors. As a result, when creating other ceramic pieces that need to be glazed I will have a better understanding of what color combinations look good, and the amount of glaze I should use.
