Experience an ancient method of creating surface decoration for bisqued clay.
When you smoke a piece of art, it leaves a dark brown or blackish mark on the ceramics. When you glaze a piece of ceramics, you are able to choose the colors you would like to use and then paint them on in specific places. On my smoke fired form, I wish that I would've used more intricate leaves and flowers to show more detail on my form. After the forms were finished we waked them so oils and other substances don't seep into the clay as they are being held which could ruin the patterns.
