I feel like I learned and improved greatly throughout this unit, In my first few swatches and paintings I didn't show much perspective or depth, and I struggled with smaller details and had a hard time getting washes to turn out the way I wanted but as I grew and leaned more, I feel like my skills improved I was able to use a wash that created my sky, and I learned about the concept of foreground, middle-ground, and background which I used to add perspective and I also added much small foliage into the background of my painted which add lots of detail into my art. in the end, I was able to produce this painting that I am very happy with and very proud of.
In this painting, I used many techniques some of which I had heard of or used before and some that were completely new. The technique I used the most was tip-only, whisking, and stippling. Tip-only helped get the smaller details to turn out crisp and neat. whisking was good for filling in areas with foilage and painting plants and cacti. I used stippling for the majority of the rocky areas to help get the small details to look realistic.
the biggest challenge I faced when painting this was the rocky features this was hard because it was something I didn't have much experience with and it was very new to me. After some advice and looking back on my swatches and painting techniques, I was able to conquer the challenge and I feel like it turned out well despite the challenge.
