Purpose:
To introduce students to mindfulness principles and their application in photography;
To develop students’ observational skills, creativity, and appreciation for the present moment through photography.
On my walk, I practiced mindfulness by staying quiet and really focusing on my surroundings. I paid close attention to the sights, sounds, and small details in nature while looking for things to photograph. I let my mind slow down and tried not to think about anything except what was around me. Because I was so focused, I noticed things I probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise. The photos I took show this mindfulness—they feel calm, peaceful, and almost quiet, just like the moment I was in when I took them.
