Te Kākano's Learning Area!

What does our name mean?

Te Kākano means "The Seed". The following Māori whakataukī (proverb) sums up the spirit behind Te Kākano beautifully:

Ki te mea ka taka te kākano

ki te wāhi e tika ana ka tinaku ā,

ka pihi ake he tipu hou.

If a seed falls in the right place it will germinate and a new seedling will sprout.

We aim for our classroom to be a rich Play-Experience based learning environment that creates the best learning outcomes possible for each child.
