eTwinning

During the mobility of a teacher to Greece, the 6th-grade students have carried out a blended activity with the Greek students through the eTwinning platform under the title Cultural exchange through AI: Connecting cities, bridging borders. It is an interdisciplinary activity (English as a foreign language, Digital competence, and Social studies). 

The objectives are:

• To communicate orally and comprehensibly in English using some physical support to learn about the reality of others.

• To create a collaborative document with Google Docs for blended learning with Greek students.

• To use artificial intelligence to assist them in the learning process, using it to find information and translate it into other European languages to verify that the information given is accurate and to be critical of AI.

• To identify differences and similarities between European countries to foster European identity. 

Activity development:

• Creation of a personal and individual presentation between one and three minutes using the Flip application. Let me know who you are!

• Viewing of presentation videos. Preparation of the oral presentation, lasting a maximum of five minutes, about our town and traditions. Preparation of five to eight interesting and/or curious questions about our culture. For example:

  • What are the giants of our city called?

  • What is the name of the coast of Tarragona?

  • Catalans are famous for being...

  • How do you say _______ in Catalan?

  • Etc. 

Blended lesson:

1. Oral presentation, maximum 5 minutes, about our town and traditions.

2. Sharing of Google Docs with interesting questions.

3. Searching for answers to the questions from Catalan/Greek classmates using AI and translating the document with AI as well.

4. Sharing observations about the responses and the translation generated by AI. 

Final product: 

Sharing the results of our activity:

• Brief presentation videos.

• The information presented and shared with the other school about our towns and traditions.

• The shared document with some curious questions about each culture and the answers found with AI and its translation.

• Critical analysis of the responses and translation made by AI.
