On the first day, Ana Paula, the coordinator of the libraries of the Agrupación de San Martín de Oporto, was waiting for us in the Secondary School building.
In the hall of the library we found an exhibition on Catalan literature that our fellow teachers had made to welcome us.
Ana Paula already showed us how the bibliographic collection of the school library was organized.
Then we went to visit the facilities. These were inaugurated in 1986 and renovated in 2013. They are divided into small buildings. We were surprised by the large spaces they have and the amount of material they have.
A relevant aspect is that they have an employee r in each building who is in charge of the proper functioning of the building.
They give a great importance to the arts, they make music, theater and visual and plastic arts.
We went into a music class where half of the 6th grade group was learning a traditional Portuguese dance, they taught it and we also danced it. The other group was doing a specific music class.
Ana Paula presented the educational project of the center and the different projects that are being carried out.
In the afternoon, Ana Paula and a member of the management team continued explaining the different projects of the group and its organization.
Later we went to see a reading club made up of 6th graders, 8 girls and 6 boys who were working on the subject of the Holocaust. They welcomed us with a text in Catalan that they had prepared. We were able to chat with all of them and share the books of Catalan authors that we had brought with us.
It was a very intense day!
