PRIMER DIA: DE ROSES A VIENA I DE VIENA A BRATISLAVA!

Avui 17 de març de 2024 marca el començament d'una emocionant aventura per als alumnes de primer de batxillerat del nostre centre, ja que han partit cap a Bratislava per a un intercanvi cultural dins del prestigiós programa ERASMUS+. Amb motiu d'aquesta experiència enriquidora, els estudiants es preparen per explorar i aprendre d'una nova cultura mentre creixen com a ciutadans del món. 

Aquest intercanvi forma part del projecte "Democracy & Participation" dels professors Lubos Masaryk i Ernest Parellada. El projecte vol aprofundir en la comprensió dels principis democràtics, la participació ciutadana i les polítiques de la Unió Europea. Al mateix temps, promou el treball en equip, la recerca i les habilitats de comunicació oral i escrita. És una oportunitat per desenvolupar el pensament crític, l'anàlisi de problemes i les habilitats de presa de decisions informades, alhora que fomenteu l'aprenentatge actiu i la consciència global.

Hem sortit de Roses ben aviat, a les 5.30, i ens hem dirigit a l’Aeroport del Prat (Barcelona). Un cop a l’aeroport, dues hores més tard, hem tingut temps suficient per a poder esmorzar i a les 9:20 hem embarcat. L’avió s’ha enlairat a les 9:55 i hem arribat a Viena a les 12:25. 

Poc després ens ha vingut a buscar una delegació d’alumnes del centre amb qui fem el nostre intercanvi Erasmus+, el Gymnázium, Grösslingová 18, de Bratislava. Encapçalats per en Max, quatre alumnes de Bratislava ens han volgut acompanyar a Viena i s’han ofert a fer-nos de guia per la ciutat. 

A les 13:30, hem deixat l’autocar davant l’edifici de l’Òpera de Viena. Des d’allà, hem fet una ruta pel centre, que ens ha permès veure diversos llocs emblemàtics de la ciutat: des de l'Ajuntament de Viena fins al Naschmarkt, passant pel Palau de Schönbrunn, la Heldenplatz, l’Stadtpark, el Parlament, la Maria-Theresien-Platz, el Rellotge Ankeruhr, la Columna de la Pesta i la Catedral de Sant Esteve, entre d’altres. Hem acabat la nostra visita a l'Hotel Sacher, on hem gaudit del seu famós Sacher, un deliciós pastís de xocolata amb una gran història, que us animem a conèixer.

Un cop acabat el nostre recorregut per Viena, hem tornat a l’autocar, que ens ha portat a Bratislava, concretament a la Pension Petit, al bell mig de la ciutat, on ens allotjarem els propers dies. Passades les 20:00, hem tingut temps per a sopar una mica i a les 21:00 tothom a l’hotel, que demà ens espera la primera jornada de feina amb els nostres companys eslovacs!

DAY ONE: FROM ROSES TO VIENNA AND FROM VIENNA TO BRATISLAVA!

Today, March 17th, 2024, marks the beginning of an exciting adventure for the first-year high school students at our center, as they have set off for Bratislava for a cultural exchange within the prestigious ERASMUS+ program. Through this enriching experience, students prepare to explore and learn from a new culture while growing as global citizens.

This exchange is part of the "Democracy & Participation" project by professors L'Ubos Masaryk and Ernest Parellada. The project aims to deepen the understanding of democratic principles, citizen participation and the policies of the European Union. At the same time, it promotes teamwork, research and oral and written communication skills. It is an opportunity to develop critical thinking, problem analysis and informed decision-making skills, while encouraging active learning and global awareness.

We left Roses very early, at 5.30, and headed to the Prat Airport (Barcelona). Once at the airport, two hours later, we had enough time to have breakfast and at 9:20 we boarded. The plane took off at 9:55 and we arrived in Vienna at 12:25.

Shortly after, a delegation of students from the center with which we do our Erasmus exchange came to pick us up, the Gymnázium, Grösslingová 18, in Bratislava. Led by Max, four students from Bratislava wanted to accompany us to Vienna and offered to be our guides around the city.

At 1:30 p.m., we left the coach in front of the Vienna Opera building. From there, we took a route through the center, which allowed us to see several emblematic places of the city: from the Vienna City Hall to the Naschmarkt, passing through the Schönbrunn Palace, the Heldenplatz, the Stadtpark, the Parliament , the Maria-Theresien-Platz, the Ankeruhr Clock, the Plague Column and St. Stephen's Cathedral, among others. We ended our visit at the Hotel Sacher, where we enjoyed their famous Sacher, a delicious chocolate cake with a great history, which we encourage you to get to know.

Once we finished our tour of Vienna, we got back on the bus, which took us to Bratislava, specifically to Pension Petit, right in the middle of the city, where we will stay for the next few days. After 8:00 p.m., we had time to have a little dinner and at 9:00 p.m. everyone is at the hotel, which awaits us tomorrow for the first day of work with our Slovak colleagues!

SEGON DIA: CONEIXEM GAMCA I BRATISLAVA!

Avui hem esmorzat a les 7:30 a l’hotel i, a les 9, en David, un alumne del centre amb qui fem el nostre intercanvi Erasmus+, Gamča, s’ha ofert voluntari per acompanyar-nos de l’hotel al centre, que és a 10 minuts. 

A les 9:15 hem arribat al centre, que és espectacular. L'edifici, d’estil modernista, es va construir entre el 1906 i el 1908 i es va renovar completament entre el 2007 i el 2009. Té tres plantes en forma de lletra L, amb sostres alts i espais lluminosos, que es complementen amb dues plantes subterrànies a la part central. L'edifici està decorat per dins i per fora, igual que la tanca que envolta el recinte escolar. Després de la reconstrucció, l'edifici conserva la seva combinació original de color groc i gris a la façana, i verd, ocre i blanc a l’interior. L'edifici va ser declarat Monument Cultural Nacional l'any 1963. 

Els nostres companys eslovacs ens esperaven a l’entrada i ens han acompanyat a l’aula 4.B on, a les 9:30, hem dut a terme diverses dinàmiques sota el lema “Let’s get to know each other!”. Ens hem presentat, ens hem conegut una mica millor i, després, els alumnes del centre ens han fet una visita per l’edifici: hem vist les aules, els laboratoris, les pistes esportives i, en definitiva, totes les seves dependències.

A les 12, hem anat a la cantina a dinar, filet de porc amb bolets i arròs per uns, i falafel de verdures i patates pels altres, segons la tria que vam fer la setmana passada. 

A les 12:30 hem tornat a l’aula i, des d’allà, hem començat una ruta pel centre històric de Bratislava de la mà dels alumnes del centre. Ens hem dividit per grups i hem fet la ruta a partir d’unes directrius, unes proves i unes normes, establertes en un document que ens han donat en Lubos i la Maria, que portava per títol “City Rally”. 

Un cop acabada la ruta, que ha deixat moments ben curiosos (entre d’altres, hem hagut de gravar un vídeo fent l’ànec al voltant de la font que hi ha al mig de la Hlavné Námestie, la plaça major del centre), hem tornat al centre i, a les 15:00, ens hem acomiadat fins les 17:00 per tornar a l’hotel i reposar una estona abans de tornar a veure’ns per fer una volta i sopar a les 19:00 al restaurant Divny Janko!

DAY 2. KNOWING GAMCA AND BRATISLAVA!

Today we had breakfast at 7:30 at the hotel and at 9, David, a student from the center with whom we do our Erasmus+ exchange, Gamča, volunteered to accompany us from the hotel to the center , which is 10 minutes away.

At 9:15 we arrived in the center, which is spectacular. The modernist-style building was built between 1906 and 1908 and completely renovated between 2007 and 2009. It has three L-shaped floors, with high ceilings and bright spaces, which are complemented by two underground floors in the central part. The building is decorated inside and out, as is the fence surrounding the school grounds. After the reconstruction, the building retains its original color combination of yellow and gray on the facade, and green, ocher and white on the inside. The building was declared a National Cultural Monument in 1963.

Our Slovak colleagues were waiting for us at the entrance and accompanied us to classroom 4.B where, at 9:30, we carried out various activities under the motto "Let's get to know each other!". We introduced ourselves, got to know each other a little better and then the students from the center gave us a tour of the building: we saw the classrooms, the laboratories, the sports courts and, in short, all its dependencies.

At 12, we went to the canteen for lunch, pork fillet with mushrooms and rice for some, and falafel with vegetables and potatoes for the others, according to the choice we made last week.

At 12:30 we returned to the classroom and, from there, we started a route through the historic center of Bratislava with the students of the center. We divided into groups and did the route based on guidelines, tests and rules, established in a document given to us by Lubos and Maria, which was entitled "City Rally".

Once the route is over, which has left some very curious moments (among others, we had to record a video ducking around the fountain in the middle of Hlavné Námestie, the main square in the center), we returned to the center and at 15:00 we said goodbye until 17:00 to return to the hotel and rest for a while before meeting again for a tour and dinner at 19:00 at the restaurant Divine Janko!

DIA 3:  SEGONA JORNADA A BRATISLAVA!

Avui hem esmorzat a les 7:30 a l’hotel i, a les 8:45, hem fet camí cap a Gamca, que és a 10 minuts per tal de fer la nostra primera activitat del dia, una sessió de Biologia (de les 8:45 a les 10:35), en què els nostres alumnes han treballat en grups amb els seus companys eslovacs per tal de completar una tasca d’extracció d’ADN a partir de mostres de fruita. 

Acabada la classe, ens hem dirigit al Castell de Bratislava i hem passejat pels seus jardins  de les 11:00 a les 11:30. El castell, construït el segle X en una posició dominant sobre el riu Danubi, ofereix un magnífic panorama de Bratislava. Actualment, alberga el Museu Nacional Eslovac.

Vist el castell, ens hem dirigit a l’Oficina de la Unió Europea a Bratislava, on, de les 11:30 a les 12:30, hem assistit a una xerrada sobre la Unió Europea i hem concursat via Slido per a veure qui era capaç de recordar més informació. La Núria Subirós ha quedat en segona posició i ha guanyat una bossa amb diversos detalls de l’oficina. 

Fet això, hem tornat al centre per tal de dinar a la cantina, a les 13:00 hores. Alguns de nosaltres hem volgut provar el Dukatove Buchticky, un plat eslovac format per panets dolços i crema pastissera. En Lubos ens ha comentat que a Eslovàquia és comú dinar plats dolços! 

Després de dinar, hem rebut una magnífica sorpresa per part d’en Lubos i la Maria a l’aula de Música: diversos alumnes del centre ens han fet una demostració de danses tradicionals eslovaques, degudament vestides i vestits per l’ocasió. Acabada la demostració, ens han animat a sumar-nos-hi i ens han ensenyat diversos passos, tant a nosaltres com als alumnes de Bratislava. 

Hem tancat la jornada al centre fent una degustació de menjar típic d’Eslovàquia, que ens ha encantat! Fet això, hem descansat un parell d’hores a l’hotel i, a les 19:00 hores, hem anat a sopar al lloc on es mengen les millors hamburgueses de Bratislava: Rooftop by Regal!

THIRD DAY: SECOND SESSION IN BRATISLAVA!

Today we had breakfast at 7:30 at the hotel and at 8:45 we made our way to Gamca, which is 10 minutes away, in order to do our first activity of the day, a Biology session (from 8:45 to 10:35), in which our students worked in groups with their Slovak peers to complete a DNA extraction task from fruit samples.

After class, we went to Bratislava Castle and walked through its gardens from 11:00 to 11:30. The castle, built in the 10th century in a dominant position over the Danube River, offers a magnificent panorama of Bratislava. It currently houses the Slovak National Museum.

After seeing the castle, we went to the Office of the European Union in Bratislava, where, from 11:30 to 12:30, we attended a talk about the European Union and competed via Slido to see who it was able to remember more information. Núria Subirós came in second place and won a bag with various details from the office.

Having done this, we returned to the center to have lunch in the canteen at 1:00 p.m. Some of us wanted to try the Dukatove Buchticky, a Slovak dish consisting of sweet rolls and custard. Lubos told us that in Slovakia it is common to eat sweet dishes!

After lunch, we received a magnificent surprise from Lubos and Maria in the Music classroom: several students from the center gave us a demonstration of traditional Slovak dances, properly dressed and dressed for the occasion. After the demonstration, they encouraged us to join in and taught us several steps, both to us and to the students from Bratislava.

We ended the day in the center with a tasting of typical Slovakian food, which we loved! Having done this, we rested for a couple of hours at the hotel and, at 19:00, we went to dinner at the place where the best burgers in Bratislava are eaten: Rooftop by Regal!

QUART DIA: WORKSHOP A LA COMENIUS UNIVERSITY I VISITA AL CASTELL DE DEVIN!

Avui hem esmorzat a les 7:30 a l’hotel i, a les 8:45, hem fet camí cap a Gamca, des d’on hem anat a la Facultat d’Arts de la Comenius University, a Bratislava, on el professor Daniel Klimovsky ha dut a terme un taller que portava per títol “Citizen engagement. Participation in public policy making”. Després d’una primera part teòrica, els alumnes han participat en un taller en grups col·laboratius, que els ha permès comprendre el procés que segueix tota iniciativa de participació política en una societat democràtica.

Acabat el taller a la universitat, ens hem dirigit al Parc Družby, passant per un dels diversos ponts de Bratislava que creuen el Danubi. Hem descansat una estona i hem tornat al centre, on avui hem dinat filets Stroganov amb arròs i gnocci d'espinacs amb salsa de formatge. 

A les 14:00 hem agafat l'autobús fins al Castell de Devin, que hem visitat amb les explicacions del professor d’Història de Gamca. Construït al cim d'un penya-segat, el castell domina el petit poble de Devín i la confluència dels rius Danubi i Morava que formen la frontera amb Àustria.

Un cop acabada la visita, hem tornat al centre a les 16:30 i hem reposat una estona per tal de trobar-nos de nou amb diversos alumnes del centre i sopar un altre cop les millors hamburgueses de Bratislava: Rooftop by Regal! Aquesta vegada hem pogut fer-ho de forma ben especial: celebrant l’aniversari de la Sondosse, que avui ha fet 17 anys en ple viatge d’estudis Erasmus+! Per molts anys, Sondosse!

FOURTH DAY: WORKSHOP AT COMENIUS UNIVERSITY AND VISIT TO DEVIN CASTLE! 

Today we had breakfast at 7:30 at the hotel and at 8:45 we made our way to Gamca, from where we went to the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where the professor Daniel Klimovsky has conducted a workshop entitled "Citizen engagement. Participation in public policy making". After a first theoretical part, the students participated in a workshop in collaborative groups, which allowed them to understand the process that follows every initiative of political participation in a democratic society.

After the workshop at the university, we headed to Družby Park, passing through one of Bratislava's several bridges that cross the Danube. We rested for a while and returned to the center, where today we had steak Stroganov with rice and spinach gnocchi with cheese sauce.

At 2:00 p.m. we took the bus to Devin Castle, which we visited with explanations from Gamca's History teacher. Built on top of a cliff, the castle overlooks the small village of Devín and the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers that form the border with Austria.

After the visit, we returned to the center at 16:30 and rested for a while in order to meet again with several students from the center and dine again on the best burgers in Bratislava: Rooftop by Regal! This time we were able to do it in a very special way: celebrating the birthday of Sondosse, who today turned 17 in the middle of her Erasmus+ study trip! Happy birthday, Sondosse!

CINQUÈ DIA: TRNAVA! 

Avui hem esmorzat a les 7:30 a l’hotel i, a les 8:40 ens hem trobat amb els companys de Gamča davant del palau Grassalkovich (en eslovac, Grasalkovičov palác), residència del President d'Eslovàquia. Està situat a la plaça Hodžovo námestie, a prop del Palau d'Estiu de l'Arquebisbe, a tan sols 2 minuts caminant del nostre hotel! 

Des d’allà hem anat a la Bratislava hlavná stanica, l’estació central de trens de Bratislava, on hem comprat els bitllets per anar a Trnava, una ciutat regional a l'oest d'Eslovàquia, seu de la regió autònoma de Trnava i el districte de Trnava. En termes d'àrea i població, és la setena ciutat més gran del país. Com que Trnava va ser un dels centres més importants de l'Església catòlica romana a Eslovàquia (després de 1541 va ser durant un cert període la seu de l'arquebisbe d'Ostrihom i des de 1922 la seu de l'Administració apostòlica de Trnava, que va ser elevada a arquebisbat a 1977), hi ha moltes esglésies i, per tant, rep el sobrenom de la “petita Roma eslovaca".

Un cop arribats a Trnava, hem conegut les alumnes del Gymnázium Jána Hollého, juntament amb la seva professora, la Natalie Lackovic, australiana de naixement i eslovaca d’adopció. Per tant, érem alumnes de tres centres, Gamča, Jána Hollého i Institut Illa de Rodes. Organitzats (i ben barrejats) en 6 grups mixtos, les alumnes de Trnava ens han ensenyat la seva bonica ciutat i per aquest motiu els estem enormement agraïts! Després, hem dinar plegats en un bon restaurant de pizzes i pasta a Trnava i cap a les 15:00 hem tornat a Bratislava per descansar abans de sopar al Restaurant Umelka!

DAY 5: TRNAVA!

Today we had breakfast at 7:30 at the hotel and at 8:40 we met Gamča's colleagues in front of the Grassalkovich Palace (in Slovak, Grasalkovičov palác), the residence of the President of Slovakia. It is located on the Hodžovo námestie square, near the Archbishop's Summer Palace, just 2 minutes' walk from our hotel!

From there we went to the Bratislava hlavná stanica, the central train station in Bratislava, where we bought tickets to go to Trnava, a regional city in western Slovakia, seat of the autonomous region of Trnava and the district of Trnava. In terms of area and population, it is the seventh largest city in the country. As Trnava was one of the most important centers of the Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia (after 1541 it was for a certain period the seat of the Archbishop of Ostrichom and from 1922 the seat of the Apostolic Administration of Trnava , which was elevated to archbishopric in 1977), has many churches and is therefore nicknamed the "little Slovakian Rome".

Once we arrived in Trnava, we met the students of Gymnázium Jána Hollého, together with their teacher, Natalie Lackovic, Australian by birth and Slovakian by adoption. Therefore, we were students of three schools, Gamča, Jána Hollého and Institut Illa de Rodes. Organized (and well mixed) in 6 mixed groups, the Trnava students showed us their beautiful city and for this reason we are enormously grateful! Afterwards, we had lunch together at a good pizza and pasta restaurant in Trnava and around 3:00 pm we returned to Bratislava to rest before dinner at Restaurant Umelka!
