CHALLENGE 2: IMPLEMENTATION

OBJECTIVE:

To find out which were the turning points that shaped our world.

DESCRIPTION:

With this practice students will learn about the amazing history of planet Earth and understand that we are the result of millions of years of evolution, and find out that in the past there were 5 major changes in the environment which provoked mass extinctions.

CHALLENGES:

• Identify 5 major changes in the environment which provoked mass extinctions and predict the next.
• Know when they happened and be able to position them on a timeline.
• Create visual drawings related to these events.

CREATIONS:

• Mural that collects all the information about Earth's mass extinctions.

SESSIONS: 2

RESOURCES, CLASS MANAGEMENT:

• Introduction to biology topic (mass extinction events) and mathematical concepts (represent integers on a line)
• Acquire concepts: Set of flashcards, online activities (quizlet) to obtain main information to make a timeline and a crossword to summarize it.
• Cooperative work: groups of 3-4 students with differents roles.

ASSESSMENT:

• All required events are on the timetable
• Each event has a proportional age displayed
• Each event has a drawing (remember: accurate to the event, colourful, original, contributions, student name…)
• Each event has a description
