Environmental emergency is one of the very up-to-date topics that are part of students’ curriculum at different levels. Therefore, working on them will play a very important role in developing their knowledge about them, making students reflect on the impact of these issues on their lives and making them aware of the necessary changes their lifestyles should go through. Relating the subject to fake news, they will be aware of how to discover the true information out of the false ones.
Activities the students will allow them to:
- Expand their knowledge of environmental emergency, not only locally but also at European and global level
- Learn the digital news language and make small digital website news
- know how to discover the true information out of the fake ones.
During the meeting, students will form mixed groups (one student from each country) and will share the information they have on the subject (key competence: cooperative learning).
Afterwards, they will be challenged to: discuss and present solutions to lessen the impact of climate change, CFC gases, quantity and quality of water, and design a campaign to spread suggestions and promote responsible attitudes towards this topic (posters, video clips, infographics, digital flyers...).Back at home, these student groups will give information sessions to other students at the school to raise awareness of this problem and the need for the accuracy of the information. This framework will allow the student to identify fake news and, in general, prepare citizens for critical thinking about topics as environmental emergency.

Albert Salord explains us that News must be human and universal. Verifying the information is the journalist's task. If is not possible to verify it, you must name the source. In digital news the language is a little different: it's less formal than in newspapers, and digital journalists have to use a language that Google understands. When explaining news for young people, it is better to use videos.
