We continued on our way to the Vejle library, but another surprise made us stop. In the middle of a green park there was a wooden stall full of second-hand books. My colleague and I realised that the town council encourages reading and the reuse of books, which is a very important measure to achieve two of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We also realised that the Danes have a great respect for their cities. The wooden stall was in perfect condition. The wood wasn't vandalised and the books were also in good shape.
Finally we reached the library. From the door we couldn't see anybody at the counter. The door was closed, but there were some people inside reading. After a while, an elderly couple used a card and a code to go into. We told them that we were two teachers from a school in Catalonia and asked them to let us in to see the library.
When we walked in, we saw a magical place. We felt as if we were in a fairy tale!
This library has everything! It has different spaces for all ages, such as a music area, a reading area and a space for children to play.
An huge library bus was parked in front of the library. Each time there was something that surprised us even more!
