LEARNING OUTCOMES AND STRATEGIES/ACTIONS IMPLEMENTED

From all the work done in the ERASMUS ALAS project: the activities of the consortium, the mobilities to European schools, the training carried out (both in European schools and the one received here), the learning by observation among the consortium schools, etc. we highlight some of the proposals that we have already implemented in our schools and in the CRP VOI.

The proposals have been grouped according to the objectives set out in the project and are as follows:

1.MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION TIME, SPACE, MATERIAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES

La Torreta School: REMODELING OF THE PLAY GROUND SPACES

From new schedules depending on the stage, new structures and materials as well as different spaces adding alternatives to play. Following the example of Finnish schools observed (October 2021), the management of the 2.5 hours of playground time per week has been changed.

A new timetable proposal has been made, allocating the playground time from 10:30 to 11h in the case of kindergarten and from 11 to 11:30h in the case of primary school. Thus adjusting the playground schedule to the pedagogical needs, especially those related to routines in kindergarten.

An investment has been made in playground equipment, both in wooden structures, following the examples of schools in Sweden (May 2022).

We have also seen the need to offer different play alternatives to the students, from different material for outdoor ball games (soccer, basketball, volleyball) to alternative indoor activities, such as: chess, reading, ping pong, board games, drawing, climbing. As a novelty, common spaces such as corridors, library classroom, meeting rooms... have been used as well.

La Torreta School:COMMON FURNITURE IN ALL CLASSROOMS

In order to have the same line of school, an investment has been made in having common furniture in all our classrooms, renewing already outdated and obsolete. Following the model of Swedish schools (May 2022), we have looked for light-colored furniture, which helps to organize the students' material inside the classroom.

La Torreta School:

ICT EQUIPMENT CART

The management of the school's computer equipment has been rethought. First of all, an investment has been made in acquiring Chromebook computers, replacing tablets. After seeing the example of schools visited in Germany (2022), these computers have been prioritized given the greater versatility of possibilities they offer, distributing them by educational cycles and centralizing them in trolleys near the classrooms.

Guerau de Liost School:

REDISTRIBUTION OF DIGITAL TOOLS

Before, BG students (4th, 5th and 6th) had to share Chromebooks and tablets. From the endowment of the Educational Department and the computer stock that the school has been building, these courses have their own tools, which enhances the use in the classrooms both at a curricular and logistical level.

Guerau de Liost School:

REMODELING PLAYGROUNDS

Following the European models, a joint committee formed by the educational community: school, families, AMPA and city council has been set up to remodel the kindergarten and primary school playgrounds.

Guerau de Liost School: ANALYSIS AND REMODELING OF THE KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS

The school has carried out a process of analysis and proposal for improvement of the classrooms. This reorganization has allowed us to create more welcoming spaces in the classroom, both at work and play time.

Guerau de Liost and Quatre Vents Schools: CROCS IN THE CLASSROOM

The infant school students wear crocs in the classrooms to improve the comfort of the students and to make the classrooms clearer, since less dirt enters the classrooms. In addition, it improves their autonomy.

Salvador Llobet School: FikkA SPACES GROM SWEDEN

We have reorganized and redecorated the teachers' lounge to make it more welcoming and to make it a more inviting space to interact more with colleagues and foster a positive work environment. We have a Fikka corner and the teachers organize themselves to prepare cakes, pastries or other food to share with their colleagues.

Salvador Llobet School: SPACE MANAGEMENT LIKE ESTONIA

Changes have been made to the furniture in the teachers' classroom. The space has been designed so that teachers can grow professionally by exchanging ideas and experiences.

Salvador Llobet School: SPACE UTILIZATION AS IN NORWAY

Some spaces outside the classrooms have been set up, such as hallways and corridors, in order to carry out activities in which students are divided into smaller groups.

Guerau de Liost School: ANALYSIS AND REMODELING OF THE PRIMARY CLASSROOMS

TIn the case of primary school we are in a pilot test phase in two classrooms in order to analyze and evaluate how to optimize the classroom spaces. It is important to keep in mind that the classroom spaces are very small and it is difficult to implement the changes we would like. We have also added elements such as world maps or plants in some spaces and classrooms.

CRP VOI TRAINING: PERSONAL ORGANIZATION TOOLS FOR SCHOOL PRINCIPALS

On January 18, 2022 Jaume Josa offered us a workshop to all VOI primary and secondary school management teams for the organization and optimization of time management.

Here is the program.

2. WORK WITH TEACHERS: ACCOMPANIMENT, INVOLVEMENT, OPTIMIZATION OF MEETINGS...

La Torreta School: SHARED LEADERSHIP

The distribution of the different tasks that initially fell to the management team has been made with more teachers. Thus involving more members of the team in decision making. Thus, following the indications of the course "Benchmarking structured course the Finnish Education System" (October 2021), a better environment has been created by motivating more teachers in aspects such as coexistence in the center, pedagogical and economic leadership and cooperation between the center and the different institutions. This has also meant that the management team does not always have to make all the decisions. We have also increased the number of meetings between us.

Guerau de Liost School: ACCOMPANIMENT OF NEWCOMER TEACHERS

The Guerau de Liost school has developed a protocol for new teachers to join the center, which will help them to get involved quickly and get to know the educational project..

Quatre Vents School: SURVIVAL KIT

The management team has created a digital dossier for new teachers. It contains a summary of a full welcome plan, a summary of the characteristics of the school and methodological aspects, the key aspects of the evaluation, an explanation of the special methodologies of the school, an explanation of the emergency and evacuation plan.

CRP VOI TRAINING: TEN IDEAS TO TURN MEETINGS INTO A KEY TOOL OF YOUR TEAM'S EFFICIENCY

The trainer Jaume Josa again offered us a workshop on December 13, 2022 on the optimization of meetings in which the management teams of the VOI schools participated.

3. IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW METHODOLOGIES  OR PROJECTS BASED LEARNING

Salvador Llobet School:

"CALLING FLASHCARDS" FROM SWEEDEN

We have made "QUESTION" and "FINISHED" cards for when we work in groups. It is about calling the teacher's attention (to ask a question or to say that we have finished) without having to say or do anything, just letting the poster be seen.

Salvador Llobet School: NOTEBOOKS FROM SWEDEN

We have rethought the way to make our English-notebook from 3rd to 6th grade in order to have the most relevant contents compiled and serve as study material.

Guerau de Liost School TRAINING: AWAKENING CREATIVITY IN THE CLASSROOM

Maria Gambús offered .... a training to the VOI management primary teams on awakening creativity in the classroom.

Guerau de Liost School: MOVEMENT IN THE CLASSROOM

Project in process of implementation. Based on the visits to European schools, a proposal has been made to incorporate materials that promote learning through movement in kindergarten and primary school classrooms. The acquisition of these materials is currently underway.

Quatre Vents School: INTRODUCTION OF NEW DIGITAL RESOURCES

Seppo is a tool for creating educational games. You can choose your gameboard (you can create a game to any environment ).  You can create videos, audios and text straight on Seppo, and add pictures and links to additional content in your tasks. Players solve the tasks using mobile devices.  And during the game you can monitor the game, assess answers submitted by the players and give feedback.

CRP VOI ENGLISH STEM PROJECT: ISCVO (INTERNATIONALL SCHOOL CONGRES IN THE VALLÈS ORIENTAL)

The International School Congress project is a project for students that uses English as a language of communication and has two main goals:

. Develop a scientific research and produce as a final product a science poster in size A0 to communicate the results of the research.

. Organize the congress in a space outside the school to show the experience.

It is a project designed by the upper primary cycle students  and the first cycle of ESO.

The main theme of the research will be the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) proposed by UNESCO.

Their objectives are:

CRP VOI TEACHING RESOURCES: BIOCLIMATIC SUITCASE

Suitcase Bioclimatic is a suitcase with science and technology proposals to work in a more experimental and experiential way on topics related to the environment and sustainability, energy efficiency, meteorology or biology.

The suitcase includes the following material:

In the following LINK you will find experiences to work in the classroom.

And HERE you have the app to collect sensor data: SPARKVUE

4. ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY IN THE CLASSROOM AND TO STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Salvador Llobet School: STUDENT AUTONOMY (A VISION FROM ESTONIA)

Self-assessment by students has been promoted.

The environmental managers are responsible for explaining the new projects that are carried out in the school to all the classrooms.

Guerau de Liost School: REINFORCEMENTS IN CO-TEACHING

Priority is given to reinforcements in co-teaching in all infant and primary classrooms and reinforcements have been added to work on English at oral level in 4th, 5th and 6th grades.

Guerau de Liost School: ATTENTION TO STUDENT DIVERSITY

There are two teachers at the school who are in charge of accompanying teachers and students in relation to the attention to diversity at the school. The objective is to approach the attention to diversity from a holistic and inclusive point of view. There is also a reception classroom teacher who shares this same line of work. All three work in coordination with the management team and external services. One of the objectives that have been implemented is service learning with some of these students. Our proposal is to expand this work of service learning in other areas, as well as to give visibility to the realities of these students.

5. COEXISTENCE AND SCHOOL CLIMATE

CRP VOI TRAINING:  COEDUCATION FOR VOI MANAGEMENT TEAMS

The company "Fil a l'agulla" offered on April 21st 2022 a training to the VOI management teams on coeducation. The organization works for the prevention and attention of all forms of discrimination with children, youth, teachers, educators and families. During the conference, strategies and examples of good practices to implement in schools on coeducation were offered.

Salvador Llobet School TRAINING: WELLNESS AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Laia Mestres offered on April 18 a training to the VOI management teams on wellness and emotional health.

CRP VOI RESOURCE: Pedagogical suitcase on coeducation and gender equality

Coeducation is the educational action based on the recognition of the potential and individualities of all students, regardless of their sex, thus promoting real equality of opportunities.

Gender equality refers to the need to correct discrimination and value the enriching differences between the two sexes.

Coeducation provides both students, teachers and the entire educational community with strategies that can modify power relations, abuse and stereotyped limitations for each gender, becoming true agents of transformation.

A good coeducational action both at school, classroom and environment level is essential to prevent gender and LGTBI-phobic violence, to reduce risk behaviors and to facilitate the early detection of abusive relationships.

The CRP VOI has created 3 pedagogical suitcases to work on coeducation: a suitcase on Biographies of Women who have had an impact on our society, another one with books to work on coeducation in primary school and the last one to work on it in secondary school.

6. PARTICIPATION OF THE EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY (STUDENTS,  FAMILIES, TEACHERS)

Salvador Llobet School: COURTYARD/LIBRARY OPEN IN THE AFTERNOONS

In Estonia, the link between the school space and other local entities such as sports centers, libraries and civic centers was observed. Students can access them directly from the school, as they are connected, and at any time. It has been decided to open the school library in the afternoon, since our school is not directly connected to the local library. Also, a library space has been created at playground time.

Salvador Llobet School: PROMOTING SCHOOL PARLIAMENT LIKE IN SWTZERLAND

We have adapted and given a new focus to our Council of Delegates following the Swiss model: timing, structure, acts, etc.

La Torreta School: CENTRALIZATION OF INFORMATION TO FAMILIES BY TPV APPLICATION

Following the example of the Finnish system with the "Wilma" application (October 2021) or that of other schools in Switzerland with "Pupil" (October 2022), a large part of the information sent to families has been incorporated through the TPV application, eliminating all information on paper. This has been a revolution since families now receive the different quarterly evaluations telematically, authorize and pay for the different outings in the same way.

Guerau de Liost School: PROMOTING PARTICIPATORY ACTIVITIES FOR THE ENTIRE EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY

This was already a priority objective for us and many activities are carried out with the participation of the entire educational community.

Quatre Vents School: REMODELING SCHOLYARDS WITH FAMILIES

The schoolyard was completely deserted. The children had no place to interact in a different way and a committee of teachers and families was created to look for the best structures, games, materials and to design the spaces.

Quatre Vents School: MEETING OF CLASS REPRESENTATIVES

In each classroom there is a president who leads the assemblies. Bimonthly all the presidents meet with the school principal to share the issues of concern to each classroom and seek solutions.

7. INTERNATIONALIZATION OF OUR SCHOOLS

CRP coordination: INTERNAZIONALIZATION SEMINAR

Since the 21-22 academic year, we have created, coordinated and energized an internationalization seminar for the area. The objectives have been the following:

- Search and share strategies that allow the opening of the schools abroad and the search for new learning environments for students and professional development for teachers around foreign languages.

- To look for strategies for the improvement of the oral English language.

- Promote networking among schools with concrete actions.

During the 21-22 academic year, 36 English and CLIL teachers from primary and secondary schools participated. During the 22-23 academic year, 31 teachers are participating. We meet once a month to share, work together and gain new experiences.

CRP coordination: VOI SCHOOLS WITH ERASMUS PROJECTS SEMINAR

During the 2022-23 academic year, the seminar "Network of schools with Erasmus+ projects in Vallès OrientalI" has been created with the participation of international school coordinators.  Currently, there are 20 people participating

The objectives of the seminar are the following:

- To give visibility to different actions related to languages that are carried out at a European level.

- To design and carry out an Erasmus day that gives visibility to the Erasmus projects that are being carried out in our area.

- Create a network among Erasmus schools in order to share experiences and information.

CRP coordination: AICLE WORKING GROUP

During these years, a working group formed by primary school English teachers has been created, which has created pedagogical suitcases with materials to work on aspects of the social and natural environment in English. They have created three pedagogical suitcases for each of the primary school levels: initial cycle (Grandad's Surprise), middle cycle (Lucky is in Trouble) and upper cycle (Summer Adventure).

IN ALL CONSORTIUM SCHOOLS: CREATION OF AN INTERNATIONALIZATION COMMITTEE

All the schools of the consortium have created a teachers' commission in charge of internationalization, to open the doors of the school to European projects (to make eTwinning projects, to create more Erasmus projects, to be host schools for European schools and to start working on giving more visibility to the European Union in the school itself).

Quatre Vents and Salvador Llobet Schools: HOSTING A TURKISH SCHOOL

In October 2022, two teaching teams from Turkey, one from Ancara and the other from Izmir. They were surprised by the work they did without books with the students and that there was no segregation in the classrooms, they admired how diversity was taken care of in the school, they visited the schools of Salvador Llobet in Granollers and Els Quatre Vents in Canovelles. They also saw how through play and the integration of new technologies we motivate students.

8. IMPROVEMENT OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

CRP VOI ENGLISH ORAL PROJECT: ENGLISH ON AIR

English On Air is a radio program designed for students in 5th and 6th grade and 1st and 2nd year ESO.

It proposes a classroom work to prepare a text in English in order to elaborate an audio that will be broadcasted on Radio Educa Baix Montseny. These audios, in addition to broadcasting them live, will be published in podcast format along with a listening comprehension form. To reinforce/extend the classroom activities of oral expression and comprehension in English.

Here you have the LINK to access the website.

1st ISCVO (2020-21)

On June 4th 2021 the Pereanton and Ferrer i Guàrdia schools, together with the Celestí Bellera and Domus d’Olivet secondary schools and the CRP VO I celebrated the 1st International School Congress in the Vallès Oriental (1st ISCVO). This was a network project in collaboration with other foreign schools using English as the language of communication.

During this year the students have been working on different scientific researches with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a common thread. As a final product of the project, the students have elaborated scientific posters that were presented at the congress held virtually this year due to the pandemic situation. Here is a sample. The congress was opened by the inspector Eva Maresme and we also had the opportunity to listen to Felipe Lombo Brugos, researcher at the University of Oviedo, who gave a short talk about scientific research. After the different poster presentations we closed the congress with a Virtual Museum that we present here.
