At XP & XP East School we focus on practical, performance based activities - teaching Music through sound first.
We aim to develop key skills and a fundamental understanding of playing various instruments.
Initially that begins with the following instruments: Piano / Keyboard, Guitar, Ukulele, Percussion & Drums.
Try these backing tracks to sing along with.
You can choose from a Keyboard or Ukulele backing track.
There are two speeds to choose from, a faster tempo and a slower tempo.

Drunken Sailor - sang on the beach!
Drunken Sailor - Lyrics
What shall we do with a drunken sailor?
What shall we do with a drunken sailor?
What shall we do with a drunken sailor?
Early in the morning!
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Early in the morning!
Shave his belly with a rusty razor,
Shave his belly with a rusty razor,
Shave his belly with a rusty razor,
Early in the morning!
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Early in the morning!
Put him in a long boat till his sober,
Put him in a long boat till his sober,
Put him in a long boat till his sober,
Early in the morning!
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Early in the morning!
Stick him in a barrel with a hosepipe on him,
Stick him in a barrel with a hosepipe on him,
Stick him in a barrel with a hosepipe on him,
Early in the morning!
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Early in the morning!
Thats what we do with a drunken sailor,Â
Thats what we do with a drunken sailor,
Thats what we do with a drunken sailor,
Early in the morning!
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Hoo ray and up she rises,
Early in the morning!
Challenge 1 - Using a plastic cup recreate the cup rhythm from the Cup Song (see video clip 1 below, the original video).
Challenge 2 - Play the rhythm on a cup along to the song (ensuring the tempo and rhythm are consistent for the whole song!).
Challenge 3 - Play your cup and sing along to the rhythm (see video clip 2 below, Anna Kendrick demonstrating this on an American chat show).
Challenge 4 - Combine the Cup Song with other people in your household (see video clip 3 below, a school that recreated the Cup Song).
[Video clip 2] Anna Kendrick performing the cup song with just a cup! (A little faster than the original!)
[Video clip 3] A whole school recreates the Cup Song!
[Video clip 4] A tutorial video for the Cup Song - to see this at a slower speed you can click on the settings wheel on this video, select 'Playback speed' and select 0.75 or 0.5)
