National Science Day & Women's Day Lecture

2nd March 2024

An interactive session “Women's Health - Cancer Screening and Awareness” was organised for all women employees of the college on occasion of National Science Day (28 February) and International Women's Day (8th March). The session was conducted by medical experts from ICMR - National Centre for Research in Reproductive and Child Health, Mumbai (ICMR-NIRRCH), and focussed on cervical and breast cancers. The brief presentation was followed by interaction session and a demonstration of self evaluation for breast cancer.

WORKSHOPS

Virtual Lab Sessions for Students

Dr Priya Sundarrajan, Dr Maya Murdeshwar and Dr Binoj Kutty conducted Virtual Lab (VLabs) sessions for PG students. VLabs is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

Workshops for Students & Teachers

A two-day workshop on ‘Analysis of Differential Gene Expression using qPCR’ was conducted by Dr Arpan Parichha, Research Associate, Developmental Neuroscience, Department of Biological Sciences, TIFR, Mumbai, under the aegis of DBT-Builder grant to the department. Selected MSc Part2 students from all biological science departments in the college participated in the workshop.

The Department, in association with the Department of Educational Technology, IIT-Bombay, organized a teachers' training workshop on 'Karyotype' a web-based Technology Enhanced Learning Environment (TELE). The tool is used to understand and diagnose genetic disorders. The session was conducted online by Ms Sunita Raste and attended by 41 teachers from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kashmir, Assam, Tripura, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. 

Lectures for Non-Teaching Staff

'Financial Literacy' lecture in Marathi for Non-Teaching Staff Members

The department, in collaboration with the IQAC, organized a lecture on 'SIP and Mutual Funds' in Marathi language for all non-teaching staff members of the college. Mr Pritesh Arte, Assistant Professor, BMS department, delivered the lecture.
