"SELFLESSIES"
Near the end of the first semester, students are given an outline detailing how to capture a "artistic experience" on their phone, write a short summary of the artist and music event in their community and how it affects their community & culture. Students are to do a small interview with the composer/artist they captured asking specific questions about the individual and how music has impacted their lives. Students then upload their submission to our choir blog page. Using the hashtag #selflessie, and teacher approval, students will also post their submission onto the choir's instagram page (found below.)
Build a Larynx
Students will learn about vocal production, vocal health, and vocal anatomy. In groups, students will build their own model of a larynx and present it to their class detailing what each piece is and its function. Students will also explain vocal health strategies in relation to their voice part.
Wall of Fame 🎶
Students will pick an artist, band, composer of their choice that is also related to their Pops Concert to research & present. Students may choose to work in groups or individually to create a visually pleasing & informative poster detailing the information of their selected artist and present it to the class. It is a favorite project of the year.
Composition Project
Students have the creative freedom to create and explore skills in songwriting, digital production and more. Students have the option of working individually or in small groups to create an original composition in any genre OR a parody of a song of their choice. All projects are teacher guided but student led. Students get to experiment with digital audio softwares and usee all that they've learned all year to create their own musical composition.
