Arnold H. and Clara Dierfeld, longtime Whitewater residents, generously bequeathed a large portion of their estate to be placed in a trust as a scholarship fund with the yearly interest from that fund to be used to award scholarships to graduating seniors from Whitewater High School.

Scholarships from this fund will be awarded to students planning to further their education at any 2- or 4-year institution.  Recipients will be chosen based on financial need and scholastic ability.  Selection of award recipients will be made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee.  The WHS Common Application will be used.

Approximately $12,000 is awarded in various amounts each year.  If scholarship money is not claimed within one academic year, the recipient will forfeit the award. Awards will not be carried forward to succeeding years.

Frawley Oil Company is offering a $1,000 scholarship for a student planning to study business at any post-secondary school in Wisconsin.  Students will use the WHS Common Application and the Faculty Scholarship Committee will choose the recipient.  The check will be sent directly to the college or university.

This $300 scholarship is a memorial to Alvin Wutti, the founder of H.O.P.E.  It is awarded each year to a Whitewater High School senior attending a technical college.  Since the founding of H.O.P.E. in 1966, 173 scholarships have been awarded to students pursuing a technical education.  Awards vary, but will probably fall in the $300 range.  Winners will relinquish their right to claim a scholarship if post-secondary plans change or if proof of enrollment is not confirmed within one year.  The WHS Common Scholarship Application form is used and selection is made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee.

Dorothy Heldt was a second and fourth-grade teacher in the WUSD from 1947 to 1975.  Upon her death, she bequeathed $290,000 in memory of her brother, Burton H. Heldt to be used for scholarships for high-achieving graduating WHS seniors.  Each year, a portion of the interest will be used to fund five $750 scholarships.  The WHS Common Application will be used and selection of the recipients will be made by the WHS Faculty Scholarship Committee.

In 2018, Kikkoman Foods, Inc. established an endowment fund of $100,000 with the Whitewater Community Foundation with the expressed purpose of awarding scholarships to seniors at Whitewater High School. Kikkoman Foods, Inc. will award two $1,000 scholarships for students pursuing a four-year degree, and four $500 scholarships for students pursuing a two-year degree or technical degree. Eligible students must be graduating seniors who intend to continue their education at an accredited institution of higher education including two or four-year colleges, and technical/vocational colleges.  Criteria for selection shall include financial need, academic achievement including grades, standardized test scores, involvement in the community, leadership & work history.  The Faculty Scholarship Committee shall select the recipients each year and the WHS Common Application will be used.  Payment will be made to the college or university when proof of full-time enrollment is sent to the President of the Whitewater Community Foundation in the fall semester.

Irene Krueger was a principal and teacher in the Whitewater School District for over fifty years.  A scholarship of $1,096 (Equal Payments divided between Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters, $542 each, Not Renewable) has been created in her memory and will be awarded each year to a Whitewater High School graduate planning to enroll at UW-Whitewater and major in education.  Students should complete the WHS Common Application form and selection is made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee.  Payment will be made when the UW-Whitewater Foundation verifies proof of satisfactory completion of requirements for the Fall and Spring semesters.  Payments will be automatically credited to your UW-Whitewater account at the beginning of each semester.

The Loussaint & Tiara Minett Family Scholarship is a $1,000 award given each year to a Whitewater High School senior attending UW-Whitewater.  The candidate must be an incoming Freshman from Whitewater Unified School District, meet the admission requirements, and remain in academic good standing within the university, and show strong financial need. The Whitewater High School Faculty Scholarship Committee shall select the recipient and the WHS Common Application will be used.

Bernie Partoll graduated from Whitewater High School in 1958 and was an outstanding athlete and student.  He started playing on the Varsity Football team under Coach Jim Crummy his sophomore year and went on to become Captain his senior year.  He was also a very talented Baseball and basketball player and was an outstanding athlete in track.  He was a very kind & compassionate person who would go out of his way to help a person in need.  Bernie earned scholarships that would have paid for his college education but came home to help with the family farm when needed.  Bernie and his wife June raised their family in Whitewater and their children & grandchildren have also been very successful in athletics & agriculture.  His family is pleased to award a $500 scholarship in his name to a senior who has been successful in athletics & agriculture and whose character is at the highest level.  Bernie passed away on September 30, 2018, but his memory will inspire his family & friends forever. The WHS Faculty Scholarship Committee will select the top five applicants and submit them to the Bernie Partoll family for final selection.  The WHS Common Application will be used.

This $500 scholarship award is for nursing education. Nursing is an honorable profession with many opportunities and challenges to serve humanity. It is given in memory of Clara Bray Reddy to assist a young adult in starting their career. She grew up on a South Dakota farm in the early 1900's, then went to Chicago for her nursing degree. Widowed twice, she worked at Boeing during WW II and raised three children. She served in several Whitewater doctor's offices, area hospitals and as both Whitewater City Nurse and as the school nurse in the Whitewater School District. To qualify, the student must continue an education in nurse's training and show evidence of financial need. Selection is made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee, and the WHS Common Application will be used.

Two $600 scholarships are provided by funds contributed by members of St. John's Masonic Lodge of Whitewater and the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin.  It is awarded to a student who will attend a four-year college or university. Financial need is a consideration in the selection of the recipient.  The WHS Common Application is used.  Selection is made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee.

The employees of Schenck Process LLC are pleased to offer a $500 scholarship opportunity.  The scholarship is available to a graduating WHS Senior with a minimum GPA of 2.0 attending a technical college or trade school.  The student must be pursuing a degree in the Manufacturing Industry.

Scholarship funds will be available upon notification to the Schenck Process LLC contact after successful completion of the first semester (minimum GPA of 2.5 via transcript) and proof of full-time enrollment for the second semester in the same technical program.  The WHS Common Application will be used.

Longtime Whitewater Residents, Sam and Anne Soffa are providing two $13,000 scholarships to encourage and support formal education beyond high school. These scholarships will be given to two Whitewater High School students who will attend an accredited college, university, or trade school. The scholarships are to be divided into equal annual installments spread over the term (up to four years) of the schooling undertaken. A maximum of $3,250 will be awarded annually to each recipient. Any interruption in enrollment will cause the scholarship to lapse. These scholarships shall be based primarily on the financial need of the recipient. The first annual payments will be paid to the institution upon proof of enrollment for the first semester of the first year of study. Each successive installment (up to four installments per scholarship)shall be paid upon proof of enrollment for the first semester of the next year of study. 

The WHS Common Application should be used but shall be modified to add a summary of the financial needs of the applicants. The high school faculty committee will select six finalists whose names and applications will be submitted to the WCF board which will be solely responsible for selection of the scholarship recipients. 

The $408 John Tincher Scholarship is awarded each year to a WHS student planning to attend UW-Whitewater.  The recipient must have maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or better while participating in extra-curricular activities such as Student Council, service organizations, music, theater, athletics, or other clubs while a student at Whitewater High School.  Preference will be given to students who have received honors or awards in high school.  The Faculty Scholarship committee will select the recipient and the WHS Common Scholarship Application will be used.  Payment will be automatically credited to your UW-Whitewater account, divided between Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters equally.

Thane Uglow was a 1948 graduate of Whitewater High School and District Administrator for the Whitewater Unified School District for fifteen years from 1968 - 1983.  Thane and his wife Carol enjoyed living in Whitewater and are proud that their children, Kristie Lent and Jay Uglow, are also Whitewater High School graduates. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded by the Uglow family each year for ten years, from 2021 to 2031.  The recipient of this award must have a 3.0 grade point average, plan to enroll in a 2 or 4-year Wisconsin College or University, be a good citizen, and be involved in school & community activities.  The WHS Common Application will be used and selection of the recipient will be made by the WHS Faculty Scholarship Committee. Payment will be made upon proof of enrollment as a full-time student during the first semester. 

The Whitewater Community Foundation is proud to offer a $500 scholarship in honor of its founding members.  Russell Devitt, John Newhouse, Charles Scharine, Betty Frawley, Don Hale, Randy Cruse, Robert Kelchner, and Dr. Lee Allenstein were instrumental in forming the Foundation.

The Founder’s Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has shown a passion for learning and shows academic promise.  The candidate will have exhibited a strong sense of community involvement and service.  Outside work experience and volunteerism will be given consideration.  Enrollment will be any Wisconsin two or four-year school.                                                                                   

Financial need is an important factor in determining the candidate.  The WHS Common Application must be used.  A short handwritten essay that supports strong character, work ethic, and volunteerism must be included with the application. The WHS Faculty Scholarship Committee will select the top five applicants and submit them to the Whitewater Community Foundation Scholarship Committee for final selection. 

Each year the Whitewater Education Association, composed of the teachers and other teaching professionals in the school district, raises funds through activities and dues to provide an $800 scholarship ($200/4 years) to a student planning to enter a four-year college.  The amount of $200 is renewable for each of the four years the student is in college.  The scholarship will be given to a student majoring in Education.  Selection is made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee. The WHS Common Application form is used.  Recipients must provide evidence of being an education major, successful completion of first-semester coursework, and proof of full-time enrollment second semester to receive their award.

The Whitewater Federated Women's Club offers two $500 scholarships to seniors who demonstrate outstanding scholarship and continue their education at UW-Whitewater. Financial need will be considered if there is a tie.  Selection is made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee and the WHS Common Application will be used.  The student must submit a first-semester college transcript verifying a GPA of at least 2.5 and proof of full-time enrollment in the second semester to receive the award.  The money will be sent directly to UW-Whitewater.

This scholarship was established through funds contributed by the Whitewater High School Faculty and Staff.  The amount of the scholarship depends on the amount of money made available through contributions.  Selection will be made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee.  The WHS Common Application will be used.

The Whitewater Rotary Club provides two $1,000 scholarships to students who will continue their education in college or vocational training.  The Faculty Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.  The WHS Common Application is used.

A $1,000 scholarship has been established by the Whitewater Rotary Club in memory of Charles B. Coe.  The scholarship will be awarded to a member of the senior class who will be attending UW-Whitewater majoring in business.  The requirements are:

  1.  The candidate must be a graduating senior at Whitewater High School.

  2.  The candidate must graduate with a “C” average or better.

  3.  The candidate must show leadership and involvement in high school activities.

  4.  Financial need is an important factor in the determination of this scholarship.

  5.  The candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student at UW-Whitewater.

  6.  The candidate must plan to pursue a major in business administration.

The WHS Common Application form will be used and selection will be made by the Faculty Scholarship Committee.
