Resource of Choice: For my resource I have chosen the app Notability. This is a note taking app that I use for all of my classes.
Reflect on the User Interface (UI):
You can change the color/theme of the app based on
your preference; there are options of light mode, dark mode, themes based on the season or holiday (fall, spring, Halloween), etc. One of the main appeals of the app is how personalized it can be. Subjects can be added on a side bar and you can choose which color represents each subject, and divide them so that they are easier to organize. There is no sound involved, because I think that would be unnecessary. You can pick different colors and sizes of writing as you
go, and also have different templates for each document such as rule or grid.
Reflect on the User Experience (UX):
All the different options and colors help my
productivity because I feel like I can hand write my notes on my iPad while
also organizing them and keeping them all digitally. Being able to change the
size/color of my pen, select a different template, and insert images easily
saves me tons of time because I would otherwise have to do that all manually.
Having the different themes makes note-taking more fun so that I am more likely
to spend more time doing it.
Reflect on how this resource might impact or
support Digital Wellness:
I think this resource supports
digital wellness because the only function it serves is based in education and
note-taking, there aren’t many ways to get off-task when using it; although it
puts a fun and easy spin on note-taking, it is still only for note-taking. This
app really helps me stay organized in school.
Some of the daily apps I use benefit me, such as this one, but I definitely spend too much time on apps that are not- productive and time wasting.
I can model digital wellness to my students by only using technology when it is beneficial and try to limit our use to only when necessary.
Reflect on the accessibility of the application
or tool you chose:
This app is accessible because it is free and easy to
use. I am not sure if it has features like text-to-speech, but I know it is
very easily changeable with things like languages.
Finally, think about the ways in which being
aware of Digital Design and Digital Wellness could benefit you as a teacher?
I think being aware of Digital Design and Digital Wellness is definitely important as a teacher so I can teach my students how to use technology intentionally and remind myself to do the same.
