...then you are ready to begin!
Carefully follow the guide below, referring back to the rules and the design brief when needed. There are "suggested dates" for completion of certain steps to help keep you on track. Don't worry if you are behind - go at your own pace when needed.
You can also print the "fill in" version of the Student Guide below. While not necessary, it will help for organizational purposes and will give you the information you need for your final presentation display during the event.
Ms. Proda will be having optional check-in meetings on the following dates. You can use this time to ask questions, work with your team, or even practice presenting! These meetings will take place in Room 14 until 3:45.

STUDENT GUIDES
Step 1: Explore the Problem (Suggested completion date: October 24th)
Read the challenge carefully.
Identify who is affected and why it matters.
Write the problem in your own words.
Step 2: Imagine and Plan Solutions (Suggested completion date: November 5th)
Brainstorm as many ideas as you can.
Sketch or list possible designs.
Choose the idea (or mix of ideas) that best solves the problem.
Step 3: Create & Improve (Suggested completion date: November 14th)
Build a model or prototype of your solution (virtual or physical).
Test it out — what works? What could be better?
Make changes to improve your design.
Step 4: Evaluate and Share Your Work (Suggested completion date: November 26th so you can use the rest of your time practicing!)
Prepare a poster or display showing your process and solution.
Practice explaining your design process clearly in 2-3 minutes.
Present your prototype at the Cardinal STEM Challenge!
