Special Education Parent Advisory Group

Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) is a forum for parents to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities. We welcome the participation of all parents. In addition, a presentation is offered at each meeting as a resource to assist parents in becoming more informed of their child’s educational process as well as to help parents more effectively advocate for their child.

We strive to ensure that all stakeholders understand, respect, and support all children with special needs in our community. To that end, SEPAG promotes a network of parents of children with special needs in our district and provides a forum to share information. Informational meetings are held on topics of interest for families of students who receive special education and/or educational support services. We promote and support students with special needs to have access to educational opportunities and a school environment where all children are encouraged to reach their full potential.

Special Education Parent Advisory Group Meetings

2025-2026 School Year

WWRSD Special Education Parents Advisory Group (SEPAG) is hosting their next meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. in the High School Media Center. Dr. Jonathan Hesney will be presenting to the group and then will open up the forum for questions and answers.

Dr. Jonathan Hesney is a licensed psychologist who works with children, teens, and families. He supports young people dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, autism, and family-related challenges—often focusing on helping children build resilience and healthy coping skills early on.

Using a blend of client-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches, Dr. Hesney helps children and adolescents learn practical tools to improve their ability to manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. He incorporates mindfulness and positive behavior strategies, particularly in his work with children diagnosed with ADHD and autism, and believes in partnering closely with families and schools to ensure consistent support across settings.
