What is the role of PT in the education process?
To help students access their physical environment and participate in the academic curriculum with their peers
To promote development of gross motor skills necessary for success in the classroom
To provide appropriate strategies and resources to parents and staff to further promote a student’s physical and gross motor development
To help adapt or modify a student’s learning environment
To provide formal and informal assessments/evaluations to help determine eligibility and need for PT services
To assist the Child Study Team in the development of an IEP with educationally relevant goals and objectives
To provide direct and indirect treatment services to address a student’s specific motor needs
When appropriate to integrate into the natural educational setting to promote student success in the classroom
