Certainly, when you are able to be physically present in the library, you can make use of the books, computers, people, and other resources here. However, we want you to have access to helpful resources even from home. Our goal is to collect the information, resources, and links that will be most useful to WMHS students and post them here.
Please let us know if you have suggestions!
FICTION GENRES - Our fiction collection is organized by genre. This is a brief description of the genres we use and some examples of the books you can find in each section at WMHS.
MICHIGAN eLIBRARY (MEL) - Free online resources including articles, books, images and other valuable research information.
FREE (& LEGAL) EBOOK SOURCES - Check out this list for access to many free ebooks!
Frequently students ask the library staff for book recommendations. While we do our best to provide them with suggestions, sometimes our own genre reading preferences do not match with the student's preferences, making the recommendation difficult. For this reason, it would be helpful to have a file of books in various genres recommended by the WMHS community (students and staff) to use in helping students identify books they would enjoy. (View a sample review here.)
CITATION MACHINE, KNIGHTCITE, or CITEFAST - Check out these websites if you need help creating a bibliography or Works Cited page. (These are critical for avoiding plagiarism.)
PURDUE ONLINE WRITING LAB (OWL) - This website is an excellent resource for help on any major writing assignment. You'll find information on all of the steps of the writing process, grammar helps, and other general writing resources.
USING YOUR DISTRICT-ISSUED GOOGLE DRIVE - Follow this guide to make the most of your Google Drive account.
USING VOICE TYPING WITH GOOGLE DOCS - If you are stuck needing to type your paper on your phone or even if you have a computer, but struggle to type quickly, you may want to give voice typing a try.
FASTWEB - A scholarship search engine that also has information on internships, colleges, part-time jobs, and other savings to help you plan for college.
WHAT EVERY DRIVER MUST KNOW and DRIVING SKILLS TEST STUDY GUIDE - These documents, from the Michigan Secretary of State's office, are great resources as you prepare to become a responsible driver.
**FUN FACTS: "What Every Driver Must Know" was first published in 1937, and in 1938, Michigan was recognized as the 1st state to produce traffic law instructions for drivers. Even earlier, in 1934, the Automobile Club of Michigan, in collaboration with schools, developed the nation's 1st high-school driver's education classes!**
