I knew that I was closer to my dreams the moment I enrolled in these two courses, Field Study 1 and Field Study 2. For field Study 1 as a subject, we are being exposed to or immersed in real classroom scenarios or environments in which we were able to observe diverse learners like their attitude, how they listen during class discussions, how they interact with their classmates, and even their drive towards learning. Also, we got to observe how teachers use various kinds of methods to be able to provide the needs of their students, how they keep the interest of the students to listen, maintain a safe and conducive learning environment for all, and other more important things. In addition, it is also the opportunity for us, FS students to observe the importance of having connection or understanding among teachers, and other stakeholders like school staff, parents, and community to ensure the successful learning of students in the four walls of the classroom. Furthermore, we don’t only observe inside the classroom but also the whole school about the significance of having complete school facilities or structures and materials to make sure that they can be a medium for learning.
On the other hand, for Field Study 2 as a subject, this course actually helped open my eyes to see the deeper side of being a teacher. For this course, this is not only observing but this time we assist our cooperating teacher with their workloads. Also, we teach students as if we are already teachers, this is what we did in our demonstration teaching at the end of the semester. This experience, I can say helped me a lot to overcome my nervousness and become more confident to face students. I realized that being nervous is actually at the start but when I go on at the front while enjoying the moment and see that the students are listening, it motivates me to be better and learn from those experiences.
In conclusion, with all my learnings in Field Study 1 and Field Study 2, I will be applying them for my upcoming teaching internship and future field. Also, this introduced me to the education field that will prepare me for the realities and much bigger world in the coming years after college.
