A warm welcome to the Esports curriculum page! We can't wait to welcome you this September.  Here you'll find lots of information about the Esports courses we offer, plus useful videos to watch and activities to take part in prior to starting your course.

Getting ready to start your course is exciting but at the same time you may be a little nervous. Don’t worry! Whether you’ve had some experience of this course or not, we are here to advise and guide you at this important time in your life.

Our tutors have put together a series of exclusive pre-enrolment activities to give you a taster of the work we will be doing in college. There are also links and resources that we think will help further your knowledge of this sector. We hope you find these interesting and useful.

Student Success 

Laura has excelled this year in the Esports course this year and has developed a wide range of skills. She has been shown exceptional dedication, passion and commitment to the course. Laura is looking forward to continue her studies on the second year of the course and learn more about the Esports industry. Laura is the very first distinction level student from the Esports course at Warrington & Vale Royal College!

Student Champs

The British Esports Student Champs are a series of exciting competitive video gaming tournaments for students aged 12+ in schools and colleges across the UK. 

Twitch

Twitch is an American video live streaming service that focuses on video game live streaming, including broadcasts of esports competitions, in addition to offering music broadcasts, creative content, and "in real life" streams. Twitch is operated by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. 

Software

OBS

Open Broadcaster Software, or OBS, is a free and open source solution for offline video recording and live streaming that is Mac and Windows compliant. With an open canvas approach to video creation this tool can mix a variety of audio and video sources to a single output for creative video and broadcast applications. Recording is a snap with this multifunctional application as OBS has the ability to record straight to your hard drive using a record only mode or in conjunction with a simultaneous live stream. Speaking of live streaming, OBS allows live broadcasts to several popular streaming services including Youtube, Facebook Live, Twitch, Twitter, and Mixer with the built in ability to stream to your own custom RTMP servers 

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a software application for creating drawings, illustrations, and artwork using a Windows or MacOS computer. Illustrator was initially released in 1987 and it continues to be updated at regular intervals, and is now included as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Illustrator is widely used by graphic designers, web designers, visual artists, and professional illustrators throughout the world to create high quality artwork. Illustrator includes many sophisticated drawing tools that can reduce the time need to create illustrations.
