Configure your State approved mobile device to enable access to your Google Workspace account and applications from anywhere!
The instructions below provide guidance for setting up your mobile device to begin using your State of West Virginia Google Workspace account.
If your mobile device has not been approved for State access, you must first submit a Mobile Device Request (MDR). Instructions on how to submit a Mobile Device Request (MDR) can be found here.
For your convenience you can choose between the step-by-step video or written instructions below on how to setup you access.
IMPORTANT: Follow the "To remove the Device Management Profile (Intune/Company Portal)" steps below BEFORE watching the video instructions, otherwise you will receive an error message "The new MDM payload does not match the old payload"!
To remove the Device Management Profile (Intune/Company Portal) from your device follow these steps:
***WARNING*** Once you set up Google Workspace (GWS) your Microsoft apps, including Teams, will no longer work. You can have Microsoft managed apps or GWS managed apps on a device, but not both.
Open the Company Portal app and select the Devices tab
Select your device from the list
Tap the three dots (horizontal on iOS; vertical on Android)
Select Remove
Go to Settings > Accounts (or Mail) and remove all wv.gov accounts listed
Apple Users: Sync Your iOS Contacts!
In order to sync your contacts to the native app on your iPhone/iPad follow these steps (Note you must complete the step-by-step video instructions above or follow the written instructions below before trying to sync your contacts):
Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts
Select your “G Suite Account”
Make sure the options you would like to use, e.g., Contacts, Calendar, are turned on
You must use the Gmail app to access your Google Workspace email account
Warning: Verify your device’s default Mail app is not active. You cannot access your Gmail account using the default Mail app
Re-enter your network password
Follow the prompts and sign in to your email account
Next, sign in to STS
Once you have completed these steps your contacts and calendar will sync.
