Program works with industry and community to maximize student engagement and employment. Industry has a clear voice in program direction.
Fresno Police Department
The Law and Justice Institute currently has five advisory committee members. They are listed below. We have a private security expert, an attorney, a retired Sheriff Lieutenant, and a current Sheriff Lieutenant and a current Police Officer who is a 2023 National Law Enforcement Hall of Fame Inductee. The advisors represent the community well and reflect the diversity of the school community. The Advisory committee is representative of the school population and composed of the membership recommended in the state Work Based Learning report. The advisors are involved in the program not only for yearly meetings but also in guest speaking in the class. They promote our program in the community and assist in making contacts with other professionals that may assist with the program. They are also involved in being judges with our senior project presentations.
The advisors meet in the fall and then in the spring. The meeting minutes indicate that they review our goals and objectives. See Standard 1 under Collaboration for the minutes of those meetings. The Spring meeting are a combined meeting with all local Fresno ROP/CTE instructors and advisors. These minutes are kept with that office.
There is a listing and registration of our advisors with our Fresno ROP/CTE Data Website. There is communication with them through that website, as well as through email and text on a continuous basis.

We currently have a Facebook account in which we promote out program. We have almost 400 followers at this point. Here is our link:

We also utilize out district media staff who will update our web page on our high school site and also produce videos on any highlights of our program.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
We have started back up with community service projects as Covid restricted a lot of our projects. We currently have beeen working with the Central California Food Bank.
We have an After School Program in which my students complete Campus Beautification.
All Pathway students in the program are required to complete community service hours. Many of the students engage in community service projects with their explorer posts, churches and other community organizations.
PATHWAY STUDENT REQUIRED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

LAW ENFORCEMENT INDUSTRY PARTNERS
As stated under Standard 1 under Program Goals, " Along term goal would be to collaborate closely with local law enforment agencies to develop a pipeline to those agencies." The agencies listed at the bottom of our home page have been very supportive in sending officers and deputies to assist us with our program from time to time. We hope to increase this more as Mr Maynez has recently made contact with the Sheriff and Chief of those agencies. The explorer post for the Sherrif Department has been very active in recruiting our students. We have approximately 10 students in the program. The Police Department is working to build their program up and will be speaking with our students soon.
