Types of Testing

Our school uses a variety of assessments throughout the school year to measure student learning, identify areas for growth, and help ensure students are placed in appropriate courses and programs.

State Tests

State tests are assessments required by the state to measure student achievement in subjects such as reading, mathematics, science. These tests help schools and educators understand how students are performing compared with state standards.

Standardized Tests

Standardized tests are given using consistent questions, instructions, and scoring methods. They may be used to measure academic skills and progress and can help educators identify areas where students may need additional support.

Placement Tests

Placement tests help determine the appropriate class, course, or academic level for a student. These assessments may be given when students enter a new school, begin a new program, or need help determining the right level of coursework.

Classroom Assessments

Classroom assessments include quizzes, unit tests, projects, and other assignments created by teachers. These assessments help teachers monitor student understanding and adjust instruction to meet students' needs.

Preparing for Testing

Students can prepare by reviewing class materials, completing practice activities, asking questions, getting enough sleep, and arriving on testing days ready to do their best.
