This introductory course is designed to familiarize students to the various career opportunities associated with industrial production processes. Students will learn through hands-on activities that include fine woodworking and manufacturing. In this course students will use the basic skills learned in Woods I to explore the design process. Students will research existing designs and create a complete project plan for a table before fabrication. Students will learn through hands-on activities that include fine woodworking and manufacturing. Course content will be taught using a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on lab activities. Fees will be assessed for personal project materials.

In this course students will use the skills learned in Woods I and II to explore the design process for a more rigorous project. Students will research existing designs and create a complete project plan for a cabinet before fabrication. Students will learn through hands-on activities that include fine woodworking and manufacturing. Course content will be taught using a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on lab activities. Fees will be assessed for personal project materials.

This course allows students to use basic skills from the Wood program to explore another form of fabrication/manufacturing. Students will research existing designs and produce complete project plans before turning and carving a variety of wood products. Students will learn through hands-on activities that include fine woodworking and manufacturing. Course content will be taught using a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on lab activities. Fees will be assessed for personal project materials.

IND3370 DIY (Do-It-Yourself)

1 Semester 0.5 creditAlmond Campus: 11-12; Prerequisite: None
Do-It-Yourself. This course was developed to prepare students for life skills needed to utilize basic home tools and equipment. Students will research and construct projects like furniture, signs, and toys found on DIY media like Pinterest and HGTV as well as solve practical home maintenance challenges.

In this course students will use the skills learned in previous courses to design and construct an original project(s) of their choice. Students will research existing designs found on DIY media like Pinterest and HGTV to create a complete project plan before fabrication. Fees will be assessed for personal project materials and/or materials may need to be purchased from local hardware stores and brought to the school.

IND3377 CAM 1(Computer Aided Manufacturing)

1 Semester 0.5 creditAlmond Campus: 11 -12; Prerequisite: Woods I
Computer Aided Manufacturing I. In this hands-on course students will use the design process and 3D modeling software to develop products which can be created with computer-aided equipment such as a 3D printer, CNC mill, CNC lathe, CNC router, and laser engraver. Core skills learned in the Woods 1 class will also be used to prepare materials which will be processed on laser engravers and CNC equipment. Fees will be assessed for personal project materials.

1 Semester 0.5 creditAlmond Campus: 11-12; Prerequisite: CAM I
Computer Aided Manufacturing II. In this course students will use knowledge gained form CAM I to further develop their 3D modeling and computer-aided equipment skills. They will develop a product which incorporates all of the equipment such as a 3D printer, CNC mill, CNC lathe, CNC router, and laser engraver. Fees will be assessed for personal project materials.
