Why Parent Coaches, Team Managers, and AED Custodians Matter
While Red Bulls trainers lead training and coach matches, West Side Travel teams cannot operate without committed parent volunteers. Parent support coaches, team managers, and AED custodians each play a vital role in ensuring a supportive, well-organized, and positive team culture for players.
Role as a Volunteer Coach
Assist Red Bulls Trainer (head coach)
Match Days: Attend games and (when applicable) lead pre-match warmups.
Practices: Optional, but encouraged when possible.
Weekly Time: Plan for ~1–2 hours/week for planning, communication, and optional support.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Red Bulls trainer on weekly goals and match execution; coordinate with the other parent coach and team manager.
Certification Requirements
Background Check (every 2 years)
SafeSport (90 min initial; 30 min annual refresher)
Heads Up / Concussion Training (every 2 years)
US Soccer Federation Grassroots Certification
WYSL coaches also need:
WYSL Coaching Orientation (2 hours, one-time)

Important: This role supports the Red Bulls trainer. It’s not a platform to override coaching decisions or push personal agendas. If staying composed, emotionally regulated, or respecting the trainer’s authority may be difficult, please consider volunteering in a different role.
